RDNA 3 rumours Q3/4 2022

All these pages and pages of RT "talk". I think I only own about 3 games that support it. I'll get by without it just fine. I'd rather have a better all round package upgrade over the previous 6000 generation and it looks like the 7900XTX will deliver on that. I can see the benchmark talk now... 7900XTX runs game X at 250fps but the 4090 runs game X (when not melting) at 300fps. Omg why did I buy a 7900XTX. This fps is horrible!!!
yea and how many games will support it during the lifetime of this GPU?
I'm guessing quite a lot.

Cyberpunk DLC for sure will.
Starfield will according to some linked in job advert
Any witcher games/Remakes sure will.
Forza is getting it so the next forza motorsport game sure will.

We have already seen the staunch hill defenders that said the 3080 10GB "was enough" switch to the 4090! So the lifetime of that GPU was maximum of 2 years. GG

or these people own a 3080 and wanted something to upgrade with for the same budget as their last card after being priced out by nvidia.

Well you just proved my point. Same budget though? Nope - £700 to £1700 get outta here!!

Excitement in this thread just shows how much Nvidia missed the mark with rtx 4080...

Comparing initial "top" to initial "top" - so 3090 to 6900xt(ignoring the too late released 3090ti and 6950xt) - 6900xt was actually closer to 3090 than 7900xtx is to 4090. I dont remember people being that excited about 6900xt back then.

Its because of Nvidia completely out of touch pricing of 4080 that makes 7900xtx such a strong relative value proposition this time. Hope it teaches them a lesson.

Why wouldn't they play these games if they get 3090 level of performance? 6 weeks ago that was still the premium performance you can get on RT games.
Not to mention many of these games are old titles the devs got some cash from Nvidia or AMD and try to help these companies sell more cards. I wouldn't play 90% of those games if i had the 4090 and the games for free. Instead of working on new titles they get paid to sell us some polish(ed) turd.

For many and this isnt the niche 1% of enthusuasts on here, AMD's new cards you can drop in as said in the interview:

No new case
No new PSU
No Adaptor cable

Besides this, there is also a massive point that most systems will not be able to keep up with a 4090. Look how many are interfighting at how the CPU's are not able to keep pace. So unless you have a really powerful system already or one that has recently been built, chances are the 4090 is gonna be overkill and underutilised.

From that already released list I own 21 games and from the to be released list I intend to buy 5 of those

1700 for FE though

Shame AMD don;t do an EU shop and only link to other etailers for USA they sell direct to consumers
They have an EU shop.
I'm not sure what the obsession is with the AMD store anyway. The prices are normally crap. The only exception was at the launch of the 6000 series they sent early access links to anyone signed up. Meaning they could get a card a MSRP.
Similar bad pricing with the CPUs except they have a pre black Friday sale at the minute and the prices just about match other stores anyway.

People getting angry they don't have a store to sell higher priced items to the UK.

I mostly agree they're out of touch. Wanting to sell older product is fine, it just feels like they should have properly dropped the prices and then cannibalised their own market faster.

It reeks of a superiority complex. This feels particularly so with the 4080 16GB and 4080 12GB performance. Literally no gen on gen price performance improvement. 4080 16Gb just beating the 3090ti in RT is just a joke...

At least AMD have given a significant price performance jump gen on gen. For me the halo teir is bad value and the mid tiers are where it's at.
Superiority complex, or more likely not wanting the stockmarket to actually notice that Nvidia's forecasting of demand was very very poor and that they had previously said to shareholders that their exposure to mining was minimal.

Despite all the distraction, I still think there's s high probability that they'll face another shareholder suit. Not that I have much sympathy for the shareholders as they too should have seen how exposed Nvidia was to mining.

Look how many are interfighting at how the CPU's are not able to keep pace.
That's a very good point. Less driver overhead in AMD means 7900xtx is less likely to be underutilised in cpu-bound scenario than 4090, especially with slower cpus.
Unless AMD will go bonkers with lower tier cards(like 8x pcie 7800xt or 2x pcie 7600xt...) they will just win where it matters, and Nv will only be for 1% of enthusiasts...
All of this obviously is hard to predict, given that at some point there was more 3090 on steam than 6xxx combined...

Yep, nobody cares when they managed to get something for a sensible price, but now faced with the same reality it's a problem. Everyone knew it was coming.
Silly high prices are here to stay, and we can't blame anyone but ourselves.

God knows how much the 5090 will be.

The advancement of graphics tech comes from console development. It doesn't come from the pc market. The days of crysis are long gone.
And at the end of the day the RT evangelists should moan at Sony and Microsoft because neither had been willing to demand better RT performance from RDNA2 for their consoles.

If they had been willing to pay for that - both in terms of R&D and increased silicon die - then I'm sure AMD's RT performance would be higher and games would be using more RT effects.

But it seems neither Sony nor Microsoft were willing to make losses this generation.

How do you make this out? The 3090ti can currently be had for £1149. The XTX with vat and all the other extras will be c.£1500, more than the 4080 but less than the 4090 which seems about right in terms of leaked benchmarks.

I like many others don't care a jot about raytracing but I do care about DLSS, which is where AMD fails because few games use FSR, whereas the former is in nearly all new games. The only good thing I can say about the AMD offering is the low power consumption

I going by the fact i expect the cheapest non scaled 7900XTX would be around the £1000-£1100 mark.

If you are correct and it ends up £1500 then yeh i would agree AMD are ******, but i don't think it will be that high, and if like you say it fits between the 4080 and 4090 but is cheaper than the 4080 like the announced price then AMD are in an incredible position.

I accept the DLSS is a feature people you like and there will be FSR3, PC world had an inteview with the AMD team yesterday (someone posted the video above) they said the reason FSR3 is taking so long is because unlike Nvidia only having DLSS3 on 4000 series, AMD are trying to get FSR working on previous generation cards, as well as on Nvidia cards. For the immediate though the 7900XTX will be a 60fps+ 4k card with most titles hitting 100+ So I really can't complain.

I'm coming from a 1080ti, i paid £790 for my 1080ti. From my perspective i'm paying roughtly £200-£300 more than what i paid 5 years ago, which considering prices, inflation and general price creap is pretty reasonable, when i would be getting at least 5-6x performance than what i'm currently on.

While not aimed at you as you have actually been reasonable, i do think this card would force Nvidia to rethink their prices, (they're stubborn and petty so i don't think they will) so Nvidia people should be excited for this.
