Reading Festival 2007

I thought Razorlight were the best as a specticle. The stage looked awesome for them and I think they performed well.

The Chillis were rubbish, I watched We Are Scientists who were my favourites of the weekend, watched 3-4 Chillis songs then went back to NME to watch The View.

Gogol Bordello were damn entertaining but probably wouldn't buy their music :P

As said before Chilis were a bit of a let down, too much of the new stuff and far too much random guitar/bass solo interludes. They were pretty impressive the first couple of times but in between every song it got a little boring. Kings of Leon were good as always, as were Bloc Party (though I think their sound is better suited to smaller gigs). Had no desire to watch Razorlight so saw Ash instead who were good, but I missed Charlotte's backing vocals.

Though my favourite band by far were Nine Inch Nails, absolutely awesome stage show and effects, and The Great Destroyer was the loudest thing I've ever heard at Reading :D Also Hurt was just emotional.

Just in from Reading, really had a great weekend :D, favourite bands of the weekend were Eagles Of Death Metal, Kings Of Leon, Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins. As good as it was i have to say i'll be going back to Leeds next year, much easier to get around the arena and with a vip ticket its easy to avoid the knobheads starting trouble.

Got back from Leeds earlier, highlights by FAR were Brand New, The Subways, Billy Talent and We Are Scientists, most of the acts on the main stage were awful, especially fall out boy.

FOB were shocking. Why the hell would anyone want to play so many covers?

Subways were awesome, the tent was empty too. Guess it was 'cos they clashed with KoL.

Well that was amazing once I got in :)...
Mate lost the tickets between the car and the boat across the Thames. Drove round to the box office. They couldn't do anything, so I brought another and bundled him on the train home DOH'.

NIN - Absolutely awesome.
Revelers and makers? - IS that there name Wow just wow, so going to get there album.
Red Hot chillies - I loved there set until the encore, The solos where great. But the encore was just to slow and samey for too long. Disappointing compared to the last time I saw them.
Block Party - don't really Like them on cd, but absolutely great on stage. Biggest surprise of the festival for me.

RHCP were the worst band of the weekend for me, cant blame them for the sound problems but they were poor. Saw them in Cardiff a year or two ago with James Brown and they blew me away, this time they didnt seem remotely interested, the set was mainly the last two or three albums and the jamming really became interminable after a while.

Reverend and the Makers mate :)

Lostprophets were my favorite performance 2nded by kings of leon.

When ian watkins had some good banter with one of the guys that managed to get over to the stage, good atmosphere as well, some crowds for some bands were boring as anything, just constant moaning i could hear around me sometimes...

maybe i am an idiot, but i go and watch bands i like and really enjoy myself, maybe i go a bit nuts but you cant do that with your headphones on in the bedroom so i make the most of it...

rant over.. lol.

agreed about all the improv by the chilis, it was ok for the firs 5mins.

and why loads of people seem to cream over klaxons is beyond me. the duracell tent on the thursday night was mental, must have got elbowed in the jaw every 5seconds lol fair enough.

oh and at leeds festival the star wars ride.. ive never been so scared in my life, my mates clips went all the way down in the seat whereas mine looked like it was slightly sticking out. bad times

Nine Inch Nails. Absolutely stunning.

The only band I really wanted to see, and I was stood right on the railings, right in the middle. Just incredible. The lighting effects, and the sound. Seemed to play a lot from With Teeth though, which sadly I haven't heard. Singing along to Hurt at the end is one of my top 10 moments of my life.

Just watched it again on the bbc (they cut off the first 40 mins though as far as I can tell) and Hurt brings tears to my eyes. You can see Trent is absolutely loving it as well. Everybody singing along and going wild in the quiet bits.

I really would love to get a good quality copy of the whole set. Haven't got digital tv (can't even get freeview here), but from 7.30 tonight they are apparently adding stuff as a red button option. Hopefully it's the whole set, so I can get it recorded in some form.

Chillis were much better than I thought they would be. I hung around after watching Arcade Fire, so was right on the railings for that as well. Great fun. And pumpkins were excellent, though I didn't know many of their songs. I pity all those who went to see klaxons instead (lol).

Great festival. Love you Trent!

Great weekend, on Saturday though I managed to miss The Shins, Arcade Fire and Bloc Party! :( I thought Maximo Park were really good. I didn't see any trouble either (Reading) but that may have been because I was right at the front of Yellow 1 and most of the ruffians seemed to be coming from further afield. :D

I watched nearly all the bands on the main stage. Some of my favs have got to be Go Gol, Gossip, Panic, Fallout Boy, Gym class, lost prophets, billy tallent and nine inch nails.

I was totally supprised with fallout boy, i thought they were going to be terrible but put on an awesome set, and i loved the mj / thriller set !

My first festival, and im already going to buy my ticket for next year.

id never listened to billy talent before this festival...

i really like them now, got them on me playlists :p lol

i miss it now, i wana go back... dam this weekend has gone way too fast, seems like i was just pulling in the field like yesterday :(

time sucks

Got back well early this morning after staying up through the fires :D

I absolutely loved the NIN set. the lights, the performance, the sound, the energy, truly amazing. I expected a bigger crowd though, but wow, Trent Reznor is a living genius.

The kings were awesome, really enjoyed maximo park, Arcade Fire i was dead impressed with. Honourable mention for Eagles of Death Metal! Music was ok, but the frontman was ace! Really got the crowd enjoying themselves.

Chili Peppers headlining last night topped it all off for me. I don't think i've seen anything quite like that before. The bass solos leading into the tracks were immense, just that set made it totally worth the money/sunburn and the like.

Bloody awesome time at Leeds.

Just got home now.

Saw...

Arcade Fire
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Not the crowd though "Lets all go ******** GENTLE" :( )
The Subways
Bloc Party
Lostprophets
Kings Of Leon (unfortunately only caught the end of them)
Jimmy Eat World
Klaxons
CSS
Razorlight (Headliners? ****off! but still put on a pretty good show)
Fall Out Boy
Funeral For A Friend
!Forward Russia¡
Hellogoodbye
Gym Class Heroes
Billy Talent
and an honorable mention to Ed Byrne was a class act in the alternative stage.

My faves were Arcade Fire and The Subways.

Can't wait for next year.
