really getting fed up with the posts stating RTX/DLSS does not work this gen

The above 60 fps 4K RT dream has been achieved (note: DLSS is actually disabled unlike in the title). Goes to show it's doable when the engine devs target performance:

shows what optimisation can do. Same RT effects as Battlefield V but still getting 4K 60fps without using DLSS with DLSS get 4K 100fps
Great news, means devs are getting better at optimising for the tech and with the next gen cards hopefully I can run most games 4K60FPS :D

It does sound like this is the first game where DLSS is actually better than native.
One important note though his 4k native footage is using TAA. Know i don't know how TAA behaves in Woflenstein but a lot of games TAA is actually a blurry mess. Look at RDR2, TAA without sharpening is god awful.

That said, its a step in the right direction for DLSS.

@Phixsator Wolfenstein & Doom use TSSAA, which is easily the best anti-aliasing in any game that's out right now (taking into account performance hit as well, otherwise it'd be supersampling). So I would say that's a gigantic achievement.

As for RDR 2, yes the TAA is trash, but Rockstar has always been the most abysmally incompetent studio with above 50 devs when it comes to aliasing. GTA 5 in particular was the worst game in history in that regard. RDR 2 is "fine", but that's it.

Watch it again at 11:44. He states that he compared it to 4k with TAA. Why not Use TSSAA? performance difference according to nvidias own optimization guide is next to none and TAA stinks to high heaven.

I took that as a short hand for TSSAA, but if it is TAA instead, then yes that is a problem. If anyone has an Nvidia card, drop 2 screenshots for us so we can settle it. :)

I just want to be perfectly clear, im NOT trying to be negative towards DLSS... Gotta stress that or otherwise someone random with a bit to much green in their blood might take offense :p. But yes, if someone with an RTX card could take a screenshot of the game in max details 4k, NO AA vs the same settings but with DLSS enabled that would be great and greatly appreciated. I just find it suspicious that DF, guys who are suppose to be experts on game effects, have TAA enabled without thinking about the blur effect of the AA. Guess i don't completely trust them considering the last few controversies they've had.

I am not sure why this thread even exists or continues to run.

RTX/DLSS will work if people are prepared to compromise on other settings.

If people are not prepared to compromise then it won't work for this generation or the 3XXX series or even the generation after that.

120/144 fps @2160p with all the settings maxed and RTX is going to take some serious GPU horsepower that will be beyond anything available in the next couple of generations.

There is also the prospect of 8k monitors on the horizon so I don't think GPU hardware is going to catch up anytime soon.

The developers of the RTX port of Quake 2 are still pumping out stuff - I suspect is is being used as a test bed for features going into other games - the variable rate ray tracing stuff they are playing with at the moment goes a long way to keeping the performance smooth with mostly not too bad results quality wise.
