Really struggling

Understand this, the houses CANNOT go. This is out retirement plan/extra income for the future. Thinking about it now, I never should've spoke about numbers and assets since people would automatically draw from their life experiences and somehow make it sound ok to lose that little bit extra you've work your gonads off for years, just to be like them.

didnt you say you was 28, you havent worked for that many years in the grand scheme of things, youre worrying about your pension and youre not even 30, a lot of people dont start putting away till they are that age
if you lose your job, the houses WILL be going, and you wont have a say in the matter and get bugger all for them

Call me a cynic but the more I read this thread, the more it just seems like a bragging thread.

8k a month income
1k savings per month
2 holiday homes/investments

Come off it.

yeah, its a thread created by a distorted viewpoint, distorted by never having to worry about money, maybe a distorted sense of the value of money also

Im sorry but im sure if everyone here lost there job we would struggle after x amount of months.

Get your sister to take responsibility for her life instead of sponging off you, jeez i had to work 35hrs+ when i was at Uni and that was supposedly a part time job, didnt do me any harm.

Nail on head.

This thread really does my head in, 8k earnings and OMFG my second and third house CANNOT go, give me a break.

You clearly don't have financial problems.

And what about your sister? She's a student, she should be getting a decent amount of money through her loan, she dosen't pay concil tax either. £400 a month is a small fortune to most students that I know, not poverty at all.

My biggest problem is my sister. I'm paying for her flat, university fees and £100 a week spending money and mobile phone. I lose about 1k a month on her. If I can get that back, it'll help. Problem, I cannot do that to her.

I'm not in the jam yet, I'm just saying, if things go pear shaped now at work, I'm really screwed. Have about 20k in savings and that will only last about 6-7 months.

My word, you are being taking for a ride.
Have plenty of money saved, that will tide you over while you are out of work.
forget the holiday for now, tough luck fella.

sort your sister out, she isn't your responsibility. £400 a month spending and also her accomodation!!! tell her to get a job.

Yes, but I've been paying for it over two years now and it never really affected me, it's just now with a whole slew of things I have to pay suddenly, an upcoming trip, 3 mortgages payments coming out next week, rumours at work about lay offs, council tax payment for the whole year, etc etc.

you have savings and assets.
sorry fella, but if you are feeling stressed about things then maybe you should open your eyes, you are in a much better position than many many people.
grow a pair.

I think you live in a different world to me tbh.

Reading your posts give me the impression that you come from a family with money? You just seem far too out of touch with reality to be someone that has come from a normal background.

I have had the job loss conversation with a few of my friends and my position is pretty simple. If I lose my job I lose my house within maybe 3 to 6 months. The sensible thing for me to do in that position would be to realise that in the current climate ill be on benefits for a long time and to sell the house before repossession occurs.

If I where you I would defiantly sell one of your holiday homes, take whatever hit you have to and have a cushion fund if things do get tough.

8k a month and you cannot afford things.....come on.

Even if that 8k is pre-tax that is still a serious income.

You promised your sister the uni stuff, fair enough, but it is up to you whether you keep the promise or not. 1k a month though is completely ridiculous!! My parents give me £200 a month and I am HUGELY grateful (I'm a student).

Are the mortgages fixed?? If not then how did you cope 1 year ago as if they are variable the mortgages will be much lower at the moment.

1k a month on your sister is hugely OTT. Working class people take less than that home a month and survive.

I am at uni and my parents between them gave me a few thousand and I am grateful for every penny and wherever possible do not ask them for money. In the holidays I do 6-7 days a week and I pay tax right now (earnt over 6k so far this tax year and in full time education)

The real problem here is that you might lose your job, other than that your are fine and seem to have money and a back up plan which is great.

at this stage just wait it out, maybe not take that holiday if you are worried. IF you lose your job, you WILL have to sell your holiday homes. it may set you back a few years but as already said, you are 28 and will recover.

Right now, cut your outgoing where you can (keep supporting your sister, as you say changes to someone with a mental disorder can be very upsetting) and hope nothing goes wrong

willy waving thread tbh :p
a high paid PM who can't handle a few rumours or money when it looks like things might take a turn for the worst. rubbish tbh :]

I've got 24k dept, no job, back to living at home for the first time in over 6 years . My grandad died quite unexpectedly 2 days ago (RIP grandad :( ) Luckily im here to be with family instead of working in another city or away abroad

I thought you were going to say there was a family tragedy, not that you are having to think about cancelling a world trip or cutting back on buying electronics
