Ahh, sorry i misunderstood!
First off it's worth saying i like to mix tracks as soon as possible to keep the energy going - usually with about 2:30 left to play. Beatmatching is done entirely with headphones on, then headphones just through 1 ear for the start of the transition and when i'm confident the tracks aren't going to fall out of time i lose the headphones and concentrate on the mix.
Since getting the CDJs i've very quickly learnt that you need to be pretty sure of your next 2 or 3 track as well as the one you are about to play. Nothing worse than hearing a track come near its end when you've still not chosen the next one!! I usually just pick out 4 or 5 CDs i'm likely to play from my big cases then pick from then when the time is right and add to the pile when i get the time.
