Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox and PC Hopefully)

TBH I'd love to know how much time percentage-wise the average player spends running around on a horse to different locations versus actually doing stuff. It's probably like 80% horse riding/20% everything else. :p

I may have caused some trouble in Saint Denis (not story related) :D

End of chapter 6 and this has really plummeted into monotony.

I was hoping to finish the chapter, but a certain sniping mission had sadie just firing into space non-stop and I couldn't see any targets to shoot. Another bug to add to the pile (that I'm sure 50% of the people reading will exclaim didn't happen for them).

Credits just rolled on the main story. Still got to do the epilogue.

I thought the story was great, and chapter 6 was brilliant.

Kind of spoiler - the last mission is epic story-wise imo... But the last thing you will do is a button mashing qte, which says it all really.

Sunk 30 hours into this but haven’t returned back to it for a few days now, like others I agree it’s way too much horseriding, linear directions and stupid mechanics. Beautiful game but I’d say maybe the worse for gameplay Rockstar have made.

Don’t shoot me, personal opinion.

Completely agree. Im doing one mission then putting it down as its becoming tedious. Even hunting etc just seems pointless. I havent felt the need to upgrade any equipment etc and have over 2k on me so dont need the money.

I grew a really long mullet, went to the barbers and had it trimmed to the lowest setting. Finished a mission and he's got a mullet again, I guess the game wants me to have a mullet.

I'm only around chapter 2-3, and I agree about the hunting and such, it seems pointless that side of things, at first I was hunting for the camp, but currently I don't see the need due to other options, and upgrading my gear not felt the need.

Agreed. I’m at the point now where I just want closure. I feel this game is just going on and on and on. It’s just too damn long. I’ve had a week off. Playing it everyday, and I still haven’t finished it. I feel sorry for the people who have only limited time to play this. :/

Putting everything together I'd give the game 8/10. It is very good but nowhere near lives up to its potential

The story is great, the, characters are amazing, the cinematics likewise. The world they have created is breathtaking and freeroaming is a joy. On the other hand the controls are not great and the gameplay on missions is far too restrictive, repetitive, and simply outdated.

I immensely enjoyed the game overall, but it is no masterpiece.

Perhaps playing it so much is the problem? I've probably played it 2-3 hours a day since release and am still absolutely loving it.

I hate the gun fighting the way they just shrug off a bullet and continue as normal is irritating. The controls are at best usable but I’m enjoying the story and general gameplay. It’s no masterpiece and was massively over reviewed by the usual up Rockstars butt reviewers but still a decent game.

I’m just doing chapter 5 and I’m just doing story missions now to complete the main story. I will come back for the rest at a later date I think. I’m starting to feel I have overstayed my welcome a bit with it now.

Personally I think this suffers the same as Spider-Man did after the initial wow wears off it all becomes a bit tedious and meh.

I think both HZD and the Witcher 3 are better games but that’s my opinion.

A solid 7.8/10 a visual and physical masterpiece let down by clunky gameplay and controls.

I'm holding out for the patch to fix 4k checker boarding and implement proper HDR before putting any serious time into the story. I imagine there will be a lot of other fixes/tweaks to the game along with those fixes (main gripe being how quickly the day/night cycle is.... I want to enjoy the sunset like GTA 5)

I think they have just over complicated thing's unnecessarily, such as the storing of weapons on your horse, and the health/stamina stats. I get they are trying to make it as real as possible but this also takes the enjoyment away, its a game after all, it's meant to be fun not a chore.

Im still enjoying it but I don't like the direction they have taken it with a lot of things.

I've down a hour of the epilogue. I feel like this whole thing should just be a cutscene. I am literally playing it without even looking at the screen. A prompt says hit x and the game just hangs until you do.

Epilogue 1 is pretty dull, the second is a bit more interesting. I just got through them both in one sitting to get them out the way in the end.
