Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4, Xbox and PC Hopefully)

Update 1.03 for Red Dead Redemption 2 is available to download now on PlayStation 4. The patch weighs in at a reasonable 5.6GB, and according to its description on Sony's console, it provides "a range of miscellaneous improvements and big fixes for optimal performance". Of course, it also adds the Red Dead Online beta to the game.

Some of the patch notes:

These bug fixes take care of vital issues like crashing, stuttering, and lag.

There are also other general performance fixes for things like frame rate drops, freezing, and other game play improvements.

  • Added fixes for stuttering/lag issues.

I got my copy yesterday from the Amazon deal (well it was delivered on Friday but to work and I was working from home last Friday mehh) so fired it up and so far loving it but it's slow and Dutch already died once in the 3rd mission LOL I suck at these games, too many buttons to think about.
 
To Any one tempted to watch the online mode on twitch etc, avoid the comments sections. Seen ending spoilers mentioned for no reason. (I've finished, just concerning for others)

Just watch the stream with no audio in theatre mode? Most streamers will have subtitles on so at least you can read the characters text.

The online character creation seems to only give you the option to make people that looks like they hit the ugly tree then inbred for a few generations.
 
Just a heads up in case it saves anyone else the hassle but there is a weird bug with legendary animals where killing them sometimes doesn't trigger correctly. They'll show as dead on the map but won't show in the compendium and the pelt/parts won't be available for crafting.

I'd recommend saving before any hunt and if you don't get a message after skinning to say "you can craft a trinket" then reload your save and try again.

This isn't the same issue you get if you lose/drop the pelt (that gets fixed for you after a few in-game days), this bug leaves you permanently without the pelt/items and isn't fixed in the recent patch.
 
First impressions of online are good, no issues with getting connected or staying connected.
the different game modes within are decent enough, free roaming is trolly AF and hilarious if the mood takes you
 
Framerate in areas seems worse on my 1X after the update, not sure if it's because I hadn't played for a week though and been playing 60fps titles in between.
 
Finally back in this forum as I got a PS4 Pro on Black Friday and I'm already loving RDR2 - my PC games and Warhammer painting have all faded into the background so I can ride around on a horse robbing the dudes and helping the maidens.
