Red Dead Redemption 2

I'm not interested in the rockstar launcher ill only buy it on steam.

You will almost certainly still need the rockstar launcher, even if you start it on steam it will still just launch the rockstar launcher anyway. Same as how Steam Assassins Creed still starts the Uplay launcher.

Do you need to have played the original RDR for the story, or does this standalone? Not that it will make much difference, looking at the trailer I would likely pick this up for the graphics alone. Don't think I've seen a game that looks this beautiful and detailed.

Its set before the events of RDR1, so no need really to have played the first.

You don't need to have played RDR1 but it makes quite a few events and chars more impactful. If you can play it, I'd absolutely do so but if you can't then don't worry as the game is still perfectly enjoyable without knowing what happens in RDR1.

You haven't seen a game this beautiful because there isn't anything on par with it for real:D
Wait till you see it in motion and soak in the lighting and all the details. It all adds so much to the atmosphere.

That's good news, as I haven't played the original either but this looks like an exceptional game. Can't wait to play it. Its the one game that has the potential for pulling me away from PUBG for a bit.

Can't wait for this! For the single player I mean. Don't suppose anyone knows how many hours about is the main single player story? I remember playing Witcher 3 on hardest settings and it took me 150 hours to complete the whole thing with every single mission, what a game. GTAV was a good 30+ hours I think, maybe more I can't remember.

The way I see it, if Rockstar ever goes boobs up and you can't download the game from their launcher, then it's not going to run via any of the other platforms either (Epic or Steam or wherever) so I'd just get it from Rockstar themselves. At least they take 100% of the money then which is put towards GTA VI. :p
