Im kinda glad it got canned with all the script issues and in-fighting and direction changes.

It was never going to be our kind of film so glad it was never made...

This is kind of true, the main reason they used CGI in 7/8 is because they destroyed the only model of red dwarf they had, at the end of Season 5 (I think it was the doubles episode with the good/bad splitter thing), so instead of creating a new model which was fairly expensive to make, the cheaper alternative was CGI

that in itself is only 1/2 true they didn't have a model AT ALL from 3-5 and they made a smaller model, about 1/2 the originals size JUST to blow up at the end of season 5. so they didn't have one for ages in fairness
