Red Orchestra (2) : Heroes of Stalingrad

Played 2 hours last night and apart from the server browser issue i had no problems. Really enjoyed it and found the weapons and movement good. Cover will take a little bit to get used too.


No more people running around jumping like idiots.......im sold
 
I really wouldn't call it "sim", to me it feels really quite casual and smooth.

And tbh in competitive cod1+2 match and good servers the rifles in that were deadly when skilled players had them.


The most sim part is the effectivness of guns, it is great how deadly they are, fire fights are great.
 
Patch has improved the game a lot for me just been playing for over an hour and only just crashed now which is a big improvement I never tried running in admin just to see if the patch helped with crashes which it has for me anyway
 
Had my first go at this last night and was impressed. I used to play RO back in 2006 and was in a clan for a while. Biggest improvements from what I can tell are:

*The sound (which is awesome)
*Cover system (blind fire is great)
*Weapon damage (each guns feels like it has weight and power to it)
*64 players servers (enough said)

My only gripe was with the actual gamemode I was in. A lot of people seem to mirror this view that the new modes just don't seem to work that well. I guess 90% of servers will run Territory mode though so it should be fine.

The moment for me last night was shooting and wounding an enemy player and watching them run off into a dark corridor. I knew they were bleeding out so followed them. I could hear the yells of agony and then eventually found a body. Nice. Each kill just seems to feel extremely satisfying.

I can't wait to see how they implement co-op in the later builds. I think this could be one great FPS game.
 
I just had a go at this with the patch on my lunch break... couldn't tear myself away!

After the patch and setting my .exe to run as admin, I didn't have a single crash, and the server browser no longer freezes up

Cant wait to get home and crack some beers and kill some people, WW2 style :D

Just expected a bit more movement. There was literally 15 people in each building just taking pot shots at each other (queues at windows) and the odd Assault class attempt at running through the square and getting mowed down.

I'm sure people will love it. All I said was it isn't my thing, no need to get so defensive lol.

I wasn't i'm just not sure what you really expected. Also i think the server you were on was perhaps extreme, i've certainly seen a few people move in groups together to achieve something, just not running across the middle of the battlefield ala cod or something.
 
What game would you compare this to? Are the graphics good all the screenshots I've manage to see don't look that great - granted I've only spent a few mins on google.
 
The graphics are quite nice, no worse then cod4/mw2/ops, the lighting is very nice, I think they done a good job with graphics, but graphics should not be the reason you do or do not buy this game.


McGray must say I have not seen that happening, of course people will be sitting in windows it gives good views and good cover, people do move about because you have to, to win the objective, give it some more time and start getting good and killing plenty and i'm sure you'll like it, you have paid out now so no reason not to give it a good go.
 
I think the graphics are really good, tried it on ultra but my comp wasn't quite up to it (Q9950, 6870) but now have it set on high and its very smooth.

I'm really liking the first person cover system, it's still a little buggy, but its a good addition.
