Red Orchestra (2) : Heroes of Stalingrad

Doesnt the sniper still have the ability use the iron site as well as the scope therefor retaining that peripheral vision but can cover more range with thescope therefor still more flexible than a bolt action without scope?

It does, but when looking through the iron sights your vision is quite badly obscured by the scope/scope mount, so I personally prefer just the standard rifle.

In response to some of the posts, I have found the hit reg on this game to be the best of any game I have ever played, and thats not an exageration, maybe its a mix of my ping and fps, but ive found it absolutely brilliant, every kill is a good feeling its odd, down to the sound and death animation etc.

Absolutely, nothing like it :)

Thanks ill give it a shot later on tonight, Also the MG's are lethal as hell, but the Ruskie one with the round cartridge is a little..i dunno, i run out of ammo pretty damn quick and nobody resupplys you, even if you shout for it lol, ive made a habit of hitting the resupply each time i see an MG guy with the hope people will realise you can do it.

Folk will catch on soon enough, was the same in RO after it had been out for a while most people would do it at habit at spawn and even noticed people would run randomly over to MGers in hope of free points.

Annoyingly it has the same problem as picking stuff up, it shares the same key as the cover key, so you often end up sticking into cover instead of resupplying the mg.

You have to be in a really specific spot for it to actually work. If you get too close then your character just tries to find cover rather then giving them the ammo. I personally hate the fact that ctrl does so much since It makes it hard to get your character to do exactly what you want.

Is the training mission (the only single player mission unlocked) supposed to not load? Also can some one come on later to show me the ropes and play with me ¬.¬

Not true tbh, most hits on people are insta kills, or at least the target will die within about 2 seconds, especially with a bolt action rifle (obvious arm/some leg shots are not fatal and can be bandaged).

The movement also may feel "clunky" to someone who is used to mega sprinting while shooting in games like COD, but this is a very different beast. The movement has to be very deliberate, and you have to move and look at cover like a hard point you need to get up against before planning your next move.

I'd say the person playing that vid just isn't very good, you need to lead your targets AND account for bullet drop.

I was playing grain lift yesterday on territory mode, was up in the actual grain lift bit with a bolt action mosin, scored 67 kills in 1 round.

I'm really loving the game, to people saying there is something wrong with the running animations, not at all.

The running is quite distinctive between the Russians and the Germans, the Germans are quite pronounced and sprint with their weapon in 1 hand at their side, which is how they were taught to run with a weapon, it makes target acquisition at range a lot easier.

Also, the graphics are amazing, on ultra it's a beauty to behold, couple that with the first person cover system and very very satisfying weapons.

I think I'm going to be playing this even when BF3/beta comes out, it's very different and I like it for very different reasons.

not sure I'd agree re graphics being amazing ! I'm running in Ultra (OC'd 480GTX) - but it doesn't lookgreat (good enough though)

running seems too quick to me ..

and game does seem clunky in movement to me - and not in the sense of it being deliberate - I used to play RO which felt a lot smoother. I'mnot talking framerates - but general laginess - and I've noticed it across lots of different servers.

still good - but not compeltely convinced at this stage

oh and the environment feels very sterile

MW2 for instance has all sorts of neat touches - like flies flying around etc - now I know all of that extra doesn't enhance the gameplay BUT it does increase the immersion - makes it feel more like an environment rather than playing a game in a studio set

if that makes sense ?

Deffo reminds me of WWII Online except you're not wandering around for an hour before you see any action! Never played the first one, but guessing it's like the CoD series where as good as the single player is it's known for the multiplayer awesome?
