Relationships and Gaming

Mine plays games with me and my/our friends, she especially likes Killing Floor, and will often prompt my and our friends to have a few games of it on the weekend.
 
I'm on Xbox/ps3/PC till the wife gets in on a night ~6.45 when she gets in. I'm home at 5 so that gives me a bit of time. I've managed to get her into guild wars 2 so she doesn't mind playing that if I'm on the consoles (or vise versa). I did buy a fairly powerful laptop so we can sit together on the sofa while she's watches stuff and I game, works quite well and the laptop keeps her warm :). She does start maternity leave today so that might change will be the first time since we have lived together that I will be coming home to an occupied house everyday.
 
My wife and I have a deal - if she wants to spend time with me, she either takes up gaming, or she thinks of an activity we can go and do. Reality is, what she wants is for me to sit and watch mind numbing garbage with her, and she knows I won't do that.

I tend to do that, I just cannot help myself, it is a natural reaction for me now seeing as most TV is full of ****.

On the plus side, after a few minutes, I do get the "Oh, if your going to do that you may as well go somewhere else".

Exactly. Last week she almost, ALMOST, sent me back to my mancave after I shouted something at the telly from the other room while she was watching Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners - I can't repeat what I said, but she just managed to catch herself before banning me :D
 
"At least you know where I am and I'm not down the pub drinking beer and doing who knows what". I do make a point of regularly coming out of the man-cave to give her a squeeze and offer her a cup of tea. Sometimes I get the evil eye because she's reading a book or trying to watch ten episodes of True Blood off the Tivo. She's got that "hurry up and finish blabbering so I can go back to my book/movie/tv show" look.

She doesn't mind having the TV to herself to watch a bad movie, she's got a Kindle, a Wii, a DS, hassled me to build myself a new PC this year so she could have my old one, and has previously been OCD-level, addicted to Magic Carpet 1 & 2, Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2, Civilization, etc. She is currently playing Tiny Deathstar on her phone, and has been doing so obsessively for the last month after "accidentally" downloading it to her phone.

In short she doesn't mind that I spend time gaming, as long as we balance it out with some quality time now and again or when we go out together. She's pretty independent and self-contained, much as I am.
 
My recent Ex was a gamer and worked long shifts, so all spare time was designated to gaming and sexy time. Winning all around, good times.
 
My fiance knows gaming is one of my hobby's, always has. We have two children so it's all about priorities and compromise. Got to have a good mix to keep everyone happy.
 
Chinned the ex off as she continually took the **** out of me gaming, back then I didn't even play a great deal either.

Jokes on her though, "traded" her in for her mate who worked at GAME for a few months, loooooooooool

Turns out she was a physco as well.

Single ftw atm.

My last misses wanted me to sell my gaming rig as she thought i was more interested in that than her.

I told her before we got together that i was a bit of a pc geek, she said she didn't mind, but when we got together she changed.

what did she think i was gonna do, come home from work and sit and watch **** on the tv all night? Crazy woman!
 
Been with my partner for 7 years (as good as married.... you get less for manslaughter.....lol ) but work will together, I do all house duties as well as the majority of the child care, and 7pm doesn't come fast enough for both of us.... the kids and family always come first but when they're asleep I spend 'quality time' with her for a few hours, and then it's 'our' time.

she does her Sims stuff and bingo etc. .I go gaming.....

Been married 10 years in February and my wife has never moaned about my gaming. She is a good one!

Those who have been moaned at / argued have you ever said well at least I 'm in the house? Other hobbies could include spending a day out the house or a few times a week having to go somewhere. Or you could be one of those guys who is always at the pub.

My brother in law, always been a massive gamer. We used to talk gaming all the time. He pre-ordered an xbox-one, couldn't wait for GTA V etc. Well he met his now girlfriend and wasn't allowed to talk gaming to me and ended up cancelling his pre-order and selling his 360. No more gaming for him, Sucker.
 
Been together for 13 years, nearly 14. Married for just over 2 months.

Everyone knows I game or am on the PC a lot and the missus tells them that I was into computers/gaming before we got together so I'm not going to change him.

Hence why I put a ring on it :D

Always gamed so wife was well aware of what she was getting into, we have definitely had a few tiffs over my gaming over the 14 years we have been together. I mainly game now from 9pm - 1am and generally never at the weekends until that time also, mainly due to the kids more than the wife.

If you want to nip the whole watch tv with me, make her watch a load of episodes of what you want to watch be that firefly or SG1, trust me after I forced her to watch a load of SG1 and she saw how many series they had done she was all to happy to pack me off to my man cave :)
 
My wife lets me do what I want. All she does is knit and watch TV so if I am forced to sit downstairs with her it's either my programmes or nothing!
 
Last gf got sick of me choosing games over having sex with her. I guess the latter just got boring. Single and happy now... I can do what I want without getting moaned at!
