*** Resident Evil 2 Remake ***

The fact that they've done such high quality (imo) work on this bodes well for future games in the franchise, If the Demo's anything to go on the game's going to look good & run well which will hopefully mean it should sell well in their eyes which I hope persuades them to do more re-releases or at least make the next release more of a back to it's roots Resident Evil game rather than another RE7 type game.
Agreed. Hopefully they go straight to Resident Evil 3 Remake, then a Resident Evil 8 which like RE2 goes back to it's roots, followed by a RE:CV remake :D

Tbh I have to disagree, I love old resi as much as anyone....my fav games ever.
But it's great to see it completely done up for a new experience.

You can still play the old games and have this aswell. Hopefully it does great and brings in more people so we have much more old school ish resi games.

Fact is people wouldnt like resi the way it was in this day and age, it's just us dinosaurs that would.

For that though you can just make Resident Evil 8 no? What I wanted was what Resident Evil ramake was to the original. That was a great balance of old and new. Keep everything that is already there and add more basically. Not saying keep pre rendered backgrounds, doors loading and tank controls by the way, though that would have been a bonus for me :p

Don’t think the changes I mentioned would have any impact on a new player base. As mentioned I am not saying keep tank controls etc. Just level design.

I am not complaining, I am very happy with what I have seen so far, but it is not optimal for my expectations.

Pre-loading now! :D
Thought you was not playing it on release? That demo changed your mind? ;)

I would have liked that better myself but it just wouldn't sell nowadays. Shame but true.
We are a dying breed :)
I understand what you mean. But I think you are under the impression I am saying keep tank controls, pre rendered background, slow door loading sequence etc. Those I agree may slow sales, but level design? Just can’t see that being the case :)

Unlocking in 6 hours according to Steam. Do we believe that? Sounds like a straight calculation of between now and midnight and I don't remember many midnight UK time releases of late...
I heard that it may not be a accurate counter. It is an approximation or release date, not necessarily when it unlocks.

Played for a straight 5 hours last night, loving what they have done to the game. Its a fresh experience!

Damn. Been busy all day, not been able to play. Managed to get to the car park yesterday.

Had a blast. At first it was not as good as I was hoping, but more I played, the more I liked it :)

Can't say I even notice it, funny how different people are annoyed by different things.

For me it's normally aa and this is no exception.
I absolutely hate taa and fxaa, and the smaa in this has shimmering edges round things.

So it's either very blurry or shimmering edges, don't like either option.

Not bothered at all by that. Seems a bit nitpicky to me, but each to their own and all that.

I have AA disabled on mine at 4K, happy with how it looks.

Blur and noise off for me, makes the game look much crisper/better.

Loving it so far, only negative is that I can barley hear the music and everything is at 100%. Still ****** at Capcom for charging more to release it wit the old soundtrack included.

Yep. Turned of the last 4-5 options on the graphics menu. Don't like any of that stuff.

I’m stuck at first boss battle. Only have 5 shotgun shells and 0 9mm. I pick up the grenades and 9mm in offer but it’s not enough on Hardcore.FML
I gave hardcore mode a miss after when messing about at the start the first zombie got me while I was reloading and my health went from fine to danger. Quickly restarted and went normal mode :p

Will do hardcore on my 5th playthrough I think :)

IMO not worth thirty odd quid.
Well worth it imo. I will get minimum 4 playthroughs out of it before taking a break personally :D

I have only just encountered Mr X. But hoping to complete it today :)

Is it just me but anyone else prefer the original game on the Playstation?
I am actually tempted to get a console and some of the games I played all those years ago.
Right now, yes I still do, but this comes damn close so far. Just a different take with 3D graphics. Would prefer pre-rendered with set camera angles though. It just fits better with this kind of game imo.

My opinion may change by the time I have done both scenario A and B for both Leon and Clair however.

Having completed Leon A and Claire B on standard difficulty I then did a 'dont use the storage box' and 'don't use healing items' achievement run on assisted difficulty.

Not sure I'm ever going to manage a hardcore s rank run though, it seems pretty ridiculous.
I think I will do something similar myself :)

Going to pick up the sound track for my Clair A playthough which will be next as soon as I am done with Leon A soon :D

Got it maxed, with the Shadow Cache back on, and 8GB textures, just Noise + Blur off, 3440x1440, and its not even using 4GB.

Ive noticed after ive picked stuff up though, like bullets etc..., for my inventory, once ive added them and come out of it, my frame-rate just plummets, sometimes to 0, and i get a quick pause/stutter, before it just goes right back up again to my locked 60, very weird, as when im running about etc..., its fine, even when im blagging all those buggers under the shutter :D
Told you, you would be playing it ;)

You aren't alone mate trust me. I've played around 1.5hrs up to now and tbh it's just not giving me the same feeling as the originals did. To me the atmosphere and mood feels a bit flat, it's missing that creepy ambient soundtrack that sends chills down your spine. I'm also a fan of the fixed camera and pre rendered backgrounds but anyway I'll crack on and maybe my opinion will change hmmmm.
Carry on. My opinion started of similar, but it improved a lot for me. Though I still think the game would be better with pre-rendered backgrounds, fixed camera angles and a better soundtrack, it is still a lot of fun.

I take my hat of to CAPCOM from striking a balance between new and old and pleasing everyone. Just look at all the user reviews on steam :)

Enough is enough, playing as Clair is just plain silly, her pistol is pathetic and to have the pain Mr X coming at you so early really kills it for me.

Bring on Metro: Exodus.
Lol. Just play on Easy dude. I have completed Leon and nearly Clair's A scenario on standard difficulty and I feel it has a very nice balance personally.

You obviously have not even played much with Clair if you still only have her standard pistol, but had enough already :p

You are not expected to kill all the zombies you come across. That's made very clear with the ammo restrictions, even on normal. Shoot off a leg and only completely kill zombies in key areas (such as the library) leave them crawling in most areas so you run around them easily. Also try to let the aim reticle get to its smallest form before firing. This increases the chance of a critical hit.
Yep. I do that all the time, did not know if it helped with a crit for sure, but I suspected it :)

To be honest on standard difficulty I pretty much managed to kill everything. Certainly every zombie. The ammo is there if you do not miss and get your heads shots in. I even waste one ammo on each zombie in the head to make sure they are dead, can use knife for that though if you wanted.

I had the second pistol, the quick draw thing which spits out useless bullets which do little but tickle the zombies. Not sure why Clair should be harder than Leon. But I want fun with games not endless frustration.
Sounds like you mean the sub, or do you mean the one laser pistol?

No the gun you get after picking up the bolt cutters right at the beginning of the game. I will have another go tomorrow but stay away from the S.T.A.R.S office for as long as possible because that triggers Mr X
By the sounds of it you are not that far from the start of the game man. That is like 1-2 hours of gameplay in I think. If you can continue on, you will eventually get a pistol that has a laser on it which you can point at the zombies heads :)

Pro tip, don't waste ammo on Mr X. Always run. Only maybe shoot his hat off for an achievement ;)

That was my list from earlier on the thread. Now that I have completed both Leon and Clair's Scenario A, I feel I can confidently rate this game.

Overall as a game I rate it 9 out of 10. But where does it rate on my list?

1- Resident Evil 2
2- Resident Evil
3- Resident Evil: Code Veronica
4- Resident Evil 3
5- Resident Evil 2 Remake
6- Resident Evil 0
7- Resident Evil 7
8- Resident Evil 4
9- Resident Evil 5
10- Resident Evil: Revelations
11- Resident Evil: Revelations 2
12- Resident Evil 6

As much as I enjoyed playing Resident Evil 2 Remake, it was not exactly the remake I had in mind. Though I know what I wanted would never happen in today's market. There are some that even find this game hard on easy mode somehow. But it is not just that. Basically all I wanted was what they did with the original remake. That to me was a perfect remake. Also not a fan of what they did with Kendo and Chief Irons.

I started Leon Scenario B and purchased the original soundtrack for it and I am enjoying it more this way. The remake soundtrack was ok, nothing special, in a way disappointing actually.

Hopefully they begin a Resident Evil 3 Remake ASAP. Looks like this has done very well for them and a RE3 remake would be a day 1 purchase from me. I actually think a Resident Evil 3 Remake has the potential to gain a higher spot on my list.

TNA that is exactly how I would rank the games, not many people put cv in front of 3 but I would.

Resident evil 0 - cv are the best games ever and the thought of them all getting remade is sadly the most exciting thing in gaming by far for me.

Really doesn't say anything good about modern games, nothing coming out im anywhere near as interested in as any of them getting remade.

I can’t see RE0 being remade sadly, I even doubt they would remake CV as not many people talk about that game, even though it is better than most other RE games. After RE3 is remade most people will start talking about a RE4 remake, which I personally have no interest in.

From the top of my head the other two games which I am looking forward to as much as Resident Eveil 3 Remake are Shenmue 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Hopefully we will get a release date for the latter at E3.

Seems RE2 remake has sold well so good chance they will remake 3 at the very least I would've thought.

From what I have seen online, I am confident we will get a RE3 remake. They would be silly not to do so. They can use the same engine and a lot of the same assets. These games are not even that big. They should be able to get in about by 2020.

Excellent game I completed my first run as Leon. Took about 10 hours casually going through it.

Graphics & production values are superb but it must be said the game is really short its about half the content of Resident Evil 7 so an expensive remaster even if you do need to replay a few times as other characters this is an expensive game for how long it is!

I like to look at this from a quality over quantity. Don’t see it as expensive due to the amount of fun I have had out of it and I know my Steam counter will hit 3 digits eventually over the years as I keep replaying it every couple of years.

I enjoyed RE7 also, but that does not have anything memorable in it to keep brining me back to replay as much. In the end I will get a lot more out of RE2 anyway. More than happy to pay full day one price for RE3, RE:CV and RE0 Remake’s :)

I suppose the graphics in cv, 0 and 1 remake aren't that bad so don't really require a remake as much.

If the did move onto 8 after a 3 remake I would be happy enough as long as they make it like 2 remake and have listened to what people want.

What the chances of konami clocking the success of resi 2 and tarting up the silent hill's?
Agreed. The success of Resident Evil 2 remake should hopefully get through to them as to what fans want a Resident Evil 8 to be like gameplay wise. Also I want to see umbrella and the old cast back. RE7 was refreshing after getting the abomination that was RE6, but the story and characters are very forgettable.

What I want to see them do however is make a Resident Evil Classics Compellation which includes the original Resident Evil, RE2, RE3 and RE:CV on to PC. Would pay full price for that also, even though I have them all on a emulator.

Either that or another option would be is to release the original RE2 as a DLC in the remake. How hard would that really be? It is already made for PC, just update the installer/integrate it into the remakes menu. Bet many would buy it.

Was not a huge fan of silent hill's. I think I played the first one and one other. They were ok, but nothing compared to Resident Evil's which I found to be much better, at least up to Code Veronica anyway, after that they lost the plot with Resident Evil 4.

Anyone done 4th Survivor? Managed to do it in 11:24 but have no idea if that is good or bad compared to others here. It was not easy, died many times :p

Tofu mode which unlocked after completing it is just silly. Managed to get to the car park before dying. Won't be touching that again anytime soon. If I ever did I would have to make use of tips and tricks from the net rather than being able to do it on my own like I did 4th Survivor.

Price has dropped a bit already if you want it cheaper than Steam!
It was £29.99 before release at CDKeys anyway. Not much of a drop :)
