If you just want to try out some of the many mods available on Nexus, then all you need is fluffy mod manager.
It’s super super easy to use to switch on and off any mods that you’ve downloaded.
I’d try that first and see how you get on with it, then go for REFramework and others.

Just learned this yesterday.......

If you want the hand cannon pretty easily, complete the 3 stages of mercenaries and get an S rank on each. The cannon is now available for purchase in the extra content store.

I found it easiest with Hunk - that head snap he does (plus unlimited ammo) is wild.

Hmm wondering what people’s thoughts are on this…

I bought the deluxe version of the game, towards the end-ish of the castle area (just met Krauser), and I’m thinking of staring the game from scratch as I feel like the extended treasure map feature has ‘broken the game’ and possibly made it too easy :(

I have the Red 9 maxed out at this point and it’s just eating through standard enemies. Verdugo took a fair amount of hits to kill and I was on very low ammo when I took him down, but I know that the game scales ammo dropping etc. So when my ammo is low, I assume it’s because my weapons are too strong.

So I can either crack on, turn the treasure map off from this point only, or start again. If I crack on, I think it might effect my overall impressions of the game. I like the idea of experiencing it as originally intended, not knowing what is going to happen and I have no idea what the island section will be like.

Bah :(

I had similar thoughts last night. With the treasure maps its possible to be insanely efficient in terms of pesetas and spinels even on a first run through the game.

It suffers from a weird upside down difficulty curve where the first hour or two of the game are the most challenging and it gets progressively easier as both player skill and weapon power increase. The maps just exacerbate this.

Yes that’s exactly how I feel. Actually, I don’t mind the first parts of the game being the hardest, it’s good and rewarding to feel that you’re progressing and beating the game… ‘levelling up’. But when I was in the caves with Louis, in the room with the drill, I was just killing everyone pretty much easy peasy with my maxed out red 9, even the chainsaw people, and it dawned on me that if it feels like that now, the action might start feeling redundant later once I’ve levelled up everything else.

I’ve already unlocked the 1.5 power on the magnum with a voucher as well… and all my weapons were ‘maxed’ by the time I got to the castle.

I wasn’t really thinking about it… but I guess it breaks the game slightly.

Edit: I’m pretty sure that if I did restart, the game would give me more ammo in sections. I feel it has been pretty stingy because my firepower is so strong.

Yeah. I usually have quite a bit of ammo and don't get much until I end up in areas where it gets drained and suddenly the game starts giving me more. Same with herbs.

I don't mind to be honest. I am to busy enjoying upgrading stuff. On Chapter 8 now on profesional and maxed out my Red9, crossbow, the shotgun and rifle (not the first ones you get but the better ones). Only thing left is my magnum which needs about 100k gold to fully upgrade. Should be done by chapter 10.

I have found over years I actually do not like unlimited ammo. It ruins the game. It is fun only for a short while. So will only grab the normal rocket launcher so one can savour those shots just like the magnum :)

I don't mind TBH, the game can be made as easy or as hard as you like.

My current run is pretty damn hard I feel, especially for just a second playthrough, but I'll do something easier next time, like upgrading fav weapons and doing NG+ cycles.

I don't think I've ever bothered to Ng+ a game before.

I just feel like I've done that finished better to move on to something altogether new rather than go over old ground.

I might replay a game many years later but that also pretty rare.

Part of the reason I haven't bothered with the Witcher 3 RT update and Dead Space remake.

I rarely replay games but there are titles that were built for that and RE is one of those, especially this one.

Yep. I even just like replaying Resident Evil games that I like many times anyway. I mean they are not long games. Plus somehow I can feel very fulfilled and satisfied in a short period playing Resi games. That is why I tend to replay them every few years :)

Agreed, I'm generally a fan of shorter games that offer good replayability but are still long enough on the first run to be satisfying and I feel RE executes that formula very well.

There's just something about the sum of its parts that makes it fun to go through repeatedly, things like inventory management and those little metroidvania elements (a genre which I'm really fond of) combined with good level design/pacing that lends itself to multiple playthroughs.

An exciting update from my tinkering with the DLSS mod :D

I would say that 90% of the time, the DLSS mod does look a bit better than the FS2 at 4K. I’m hitting 100fps pretty solidly with everything maxed (other than image quality at 120% - which probably does nothing) and ray tracing off

It does introduce a few artefacts every now and again, with some drops of water from the ceiling appearing bright white. I think it’ll get a little gnarly when it starts raining…!

However, my wife and I thought that apart from the FPS boost of 10-15% over FSR2 there really wasn’t much in it.

The mod was super easy to install, use, turn off etc. I also haven’t had to bother with NVIDIA inspector… although maybe that’s why there are artefacts every now and then as I mentioned above.

And yes - I have started the game again with the treasure maps off. I think it was the right decision, as I had loads more treasure by now in my first play through. Have just got back to the village leader’s house… a long way to go :o :p

Thanks all for the help chaps :)

What res do you game at? I easily saw the difference myself.

May I suggest putting image quality back to 100% and then enabling DLDSR and running at the much higher resolution. Makes quite a big difference to image quality for me. My native resolution is 3440x1440. With DLDSR I run at 5160x2160. With DLSS being at Quality that is essentially rendering at around my native resolution and then upscaling.

Looks fantastic, but I end up having to cap at 60fps which I find to be plenty smooth for this game.

I’m playing through a 4k OLED TV so it’s at 3840x2160 native.

Sorry, I’m being a bit dense - are you saying run DLDSR and DLSS at the same time? How are you enabling DLDSR? Nvidia control panel?

I’m wondering whether the differences are left pronounce as it’s already looking good with the native being of 3840x2160.

Finally, presumably you do this and leave the in game AA settings off?

It is Nvidia control panel. Go to manage 3D settings and under global look for DSR factors and pick 2.25x DL.

This will now make available a much higher resolution. You may need to set desktop to this resolution for it to show up in game as an option. When in game pick the higher resolution and yes you need to have DLSS Quality on otherwise fps would likely be unplayable.

Give it a go. But to be honest you may struggle with fps at such a high resolution. You may need to give DLSS balanced or even DLSS performance mode a go. Worth a try to see what difference it makes though. As for AA settings, I don’t think that would make a difference but best leave it off just in case.

For me only being on 3440x1440 DLDSR makes a big difference as it bumps me up to 5160x2160 which is essentially 4K ultrawide resolution. Have a go and see how it looks and let us know. Might not be as big difference for you as you are on 4K to start with but still worth checking out as it does not take long.

Got to the island at 4h 17mins, could've shaved off a couple of minutes here and there as I picked too many treasures and damn Salazar on Hardcore with pistol only is a bullet sponge.

S+ won't be possible probably even if I run like hell and I can't be bothered to restart so will have to do another run with all weapons to make it easier. Quite miffed, would've been a good run.

I am 8+ hours and still not on island but I am taking my time. I even just walk at times as it adds to the atmosphere.
