Retro console and games thread

Sadly not having much luck with this Megadrive 1 I bought at the weekend, had to wait until today for an AV cable to arrive, i think it was the right type (round plug, 4 "dash like" connectors, ie:

The power light comes on, but bo picture on screen, have tried with & without carts in, headphones in too and no audio via headphones!

Any ideas, or is it a goner? :(

Was gutted when I was outbid on 261220685042 at 4 am nobody had bidded and was still at £20 start price. I just wanted the ps1 games , if I won id of just said bin the consoles and just post the games and charge me post

that's local to me, I'm trying to limit the games that have to the ones I actually will play; rather collecting for the sake of collecting.

I've sold/gave away/binned such great titles, I don't dire trying to replace them since of the crazy prices.

I remember my mate actually trying to make a tune on something like this hahaha! more of a destruction derby man myself ;) or the old GTA's thinking back on it i loved my PSone! think I need one.

sadly enough i can remember the only thing i ever half finished on it - "MC JAN - BASS GENERATOR" i think it was named bascially found a heavy drum, symbols and then some random noises and cranked up the BPM = dutch gabba / techno lol

Try giving the cartridge slot and carts themselves a good clean. I had the same problem initially with the MD2 I purchased.

The problem was simply a build up of dust on the contacts. A quick clean using a credit card covered with paper towel soon sorted it.

Went car booting some where new to me today, 50p to get in and the only thing I got was a boxed namco g con, in a damage box for a pound. Some guy was selling a speccy zx and c64 but I didn't fancy it. The load times would kill me.

At least my metal gear solid 3 sub has come from eBay.

Woohoo. Manged to grab a PAL 32X in the end from eBay for £30 and it's just turned up, looks in good condition but part of the reason it was cheap is because it didn't come with any cables. I've got a patch cable on the way but still need a power lead. The Meagadrive 1 power supply doesn't fit but will a Megadrive 2 power supply work?

Zelda, Mario Kart and Pilotwings are complete though only Zelda's box is in good condition. Donkey Kong 1 and 3 (like 2 I got a few weeks ago) are missing trays and manuals sadly but they were a good price and I am really pleased with it all.

Plus my snes collection is about complete for now (covering almost everything I want to play on it for now, just want Fzero for less than 8 quid and I am set for now) :)

Donkey Kong series is great. Shame RARE's PAL conversions were not as good as their N64 ones (right speed, still got black bars though :( ).

I've still got to replace mine with US copies, but been spending too much on games lately :(.
