Retro console and games thread

I have to say just being up late has paid dividends on ebay this weekend. Have won 2/3 games for pennies plus postage. Sealed copy of rhythm paradise for 1.20 delivered and nes turtles for 3 quid are 2 examples. Game trader seems to have got better to as they have en stated rule you have to price everything.....no more "offers" :) got complete mint r-type for ms...4 quid posted and new mario bros ds for 6.50 posted complete

Most expensive buy was copy of tatsunoko vs capcom for 8.50 delivered....sub 10 quid at last as its best fighter on wii :) (and according to several reviews the real successor to MVC series)

As per oneshot.....NO MORE BUYING. ...BAD BEN!!

charity shop £1

I still fancy picking up a 32X but the price for them in this country is a little silly. Looks like I can get one for about half that price if I buy from the US. What I wanted to check was region compatibility. From what I understand the games are region locked but it's determined by the Megadrive and therefore I can use a NTSC 32X with PAL games via a PAL Megadrive.

Am I correct.

Killer Instinct on the Super Nintendo.

That franchise needs to be revived. Old school beat em up.... Microsoft would make a killing... They need to give RARE the green light.

Mostly. The 32X does use the region from your Mega Drive but you also need to add a Genlock switch to the 32X which sets the machine between 50&60Hz if you want to use European games, although they're usually more expensive and you have the smaller display at 50Hz so I'd just personally stick with the cheaper, better US & Japanese carts.

Be warned that if importing a 32X HMRC will slap an extra tenner import duty on the thing. Still cheaper than getting a UK unit though.

After my disappointment of carbooting yesterday went around some charity shops and found this lot, ps1 games were a £1 each, ps2 games were £2 and the star wars airfix was a £1 and the star bird was £3, so not a bad haul but my room is starting to look like a charity shop in itself now :o

Espn is comedy gold....love that game

Btw if any of you have a local blockbuster. ....go have a look! 50% off game sale. I got f1 2011 for vita 8 quid..wanted for ages and ds latest advance wars for 2 quid

Thanks. A good excuse to add 50/60hz switch to my Megadrive.

Still waiting on my AV cable to arrive so I can make sure this megadrive works!:D found my old Dreamcast in the loft, but sadly it powers on, no display and a charred burning smell,,hmm, might have a look for a new one, I need my Fire Pro D fix!!

Possibly my favourite game from the entire DC lineup (well tied for 1st with Shenmue).

Been playing through the beginning levels and it is just as fun as I remember.

Also not so much of a Retro purchase per se but my wife noticed there were some games we could download for free on the Wii. She ended up playing Mario 64 most of the evening... :o:)
