Retro console and games thread

Lol remember that demo on ps official mag. Was street luge :)

Owen what games are free on wii? Or is that wii u?

Wii - As far as I can tell (my wife was telling me as I was on my PC); Mario 64 and Super Mario Bros 2 (or 3), I can't remember exactly.

There may have been more as she only went through the "popular titles" section on the Wii Shopping channel.

I can't find anything similar when looking on our WiiU. The Virtual Console (on the WiiU shop/marketplace) in comparison only has a few SNES / NES games.

It is really quite bizarre that Nintendo havn't pulled together their profiles / marketplaces across all systems (somewhat akin to Sony store on PSP/PS3/VITA where downloading something on one console makes it available via your profile on another system - as long as it is compatible).

EDIT: Not sure if it makes any difference but my Wii is a used console and I apparantly had 200 Wii points on the shop. Whether this was enough to make the games "free", or whether they were free anyway, I don't know.

Want on earth did my wife do then?!:eek::D

I will have a check tonight to see exactly what she done.

As this is a used console is it possible that these games were downloaded before and thus it has remembered? We havn't set up a Mii so I would have thought it would be a blank slate?!

Here is another rare box set which I found in my collection from the 16 Bit era. This is the where in time is Carmen San Diego game which came with an encyclopaedia to use with the game to solve the puzzles. I don't remember where I bought this to mind.

The only problem is the box sticker says that it comes with a watch, but for some reason it didn't so I guess the company changed their mind lol.

Killer Instinct on the Super Nintendo.

That franchise needs to be revived. Old school beat em up.... Microsoft would make a killing... They need to give RARE the green light.

Rare/M$ was involved in a legal battle with Fox over the title of the game.. handbags at dawn really.. look.. lol

But that's been settle now AND there's chat about RARE reviving one of its old IPs. Considering that most of RARE's IPs are/was nintendo based; and now that they own by M$, I would put money on it that its a new Killer Instinct for the xbone. It would be an excellent launch title, as all consoles needs a good fighter but will it be 'killer app' enough to make me want a xbone over all the over b$ that comes with it. :)

After my disappointment of carbooting yesterday went around some charity shops and found this lot, ps1 games were a £1 each, ps2 games were £2 and the star wars airfix was a £1 and the star bird was £3, so not a bad haul but my room is starting to look like a charity shop in itself now :o

I remember loving Burning Road, much to the amusement of my friends who thought it was awful.

If I recall it had a really cheesy intro..."BURNING ROOOOOOOOOOOAD!" :p

RARE suck now though. A revived Killer Instinct would be average at best. Seems about all they can do now, make passable games, but nothing great like the N64 days.

Am I completely mad for wanting one of these: http://www.analogueinteractive.com/
??

I have wanted to get into Neo Geo for ages and always remember seeing the AES in stores when I was a kid but they cost a fortune. I guess that hasn't changed but now I'm just a 30 year old on a nostalgia trip and want something cool lol - A refurbished MVS board consolised in that sleek hand made wooden enclosure is awesome!

There was also a cheat to get into 1st place from that start, when the race starts turn round and go the other way and it would change the direction of the track and put you in first
