Retro console and games thread

Some GameBoy action. This is my original DMG console that I had since I was a child, sadly it was badly yellowed and scuffed up so I had it pimped up by GameBoy Mods UK  The backlight is amazing, you can actually play games on it now and see! Most of the games are also mine since childhood, including some Asian boot-legs and multicarts.

We must have very similar tastes when it comes to gaming and consoles lol!

I just bought this on Monday for a fiver with the intention of fully modding it.

It cleaned up really well! It suffered from the brittle glue that holds the Screen Lens and that is scratched so i will be purchasing a new one of those, along with the Yellow back light and i really like the look of the Red Wine Buttons off GBMods UK. I'm going to keep the original shell though as it is in great condition.

This also showed up today. Its in great condition. It should be in everyone's PSOne Collection!

Ha ha yeah, that GameBoy looks really nice you have there. Mine was a nasty brown colour so you've done well to get a nice white looking one. I took mine everywhere with my when I was a kid. I'd like to get a few more games for it, Contra, Castlevania 2, Double Dragon and Robocop sometime soon.

I've been looking for a US MGS for PS1 as well, I sold my PAL version a few months back and need to get it back in my collection. I'm OCD when it comes to discs though and need them to be as scratch free as possible, a curse but I have had some amazingly minty condition pickup over the past year.

YES! :D

Wasn't cheap either, but I've never seen a Dizzy disk on ebay for some time!

I lost soooooo much time on the Dizzy games on my ST as a kid. Love to play them again!

I only have one game left to buy on the Amstrad, I only purchased this as it becomes a bit slow loading on the old tapes :D

I'm a Dizzy collector, once I have all the Amstrad games I'll move onto the Amiga of which I have two games already

Get an Amiga as it's better supported in the retro gaming scene!

For example the Gotek device is so far only Amiga firmware capable :)

I think when it comes to retro stuff sometimes you just have to pay the price to get what you want, but once you have it you will not have to buy it again (hopefully anyway). I recently picked up a complete in box Gamecube gameboy player, had to pay for it though. I never owned a Gamecube when they were new, had a PS2 but i always wanted the Gameboy player for some reason. Its just cool playing gameboy games on the tv. Luckily this weekend and last weekend i won £10 on scratchcards i hadn't bought so i considered this a £20 discount lol :p

awesome thread :) just spent an age going through most of it. Its perked my interest in getting an amiga 1200 and a copy of Amos Pro / 3d to get tinkering again! how much would one go for a sensible price these days? I saw a nice one on the bay with 68020 accellerator, HD and memory expansion go for £200 which i thought a little steep, although in hindsight i reckon it would have been good!

Whats the best TV to use with a dreamcast and a gamecube? i hooked mine up to my lcd and im not a fan on the way it looks, Somehow the old tube tellys look so much better. does anybody know what the native size for these consoles with out stretching the image?

I bought this off a guy in Japan last Friday.

Arrived today so 6 days from Japan to UK. Pretty impressive. For people who don't know what it is, its a Sharp Twin Famicom. It has a famicom and the famicom disk system in one unit. I need to make a suitable adapter to use my PSone PSU to power the thing.

Really pleased i have it and i am now considering putting the NESRGB board into this :)
