Retro console and games thread

I'm waiting on a scart to BNC adapter from retro gaming cables, but I have the 240p test suite for the dreamcast. Are there any resources for help setting up these pvm's? This is my first one and I've no idea how to set it up other than the brightness and contrast.

After months of debating I finally got myself a PC Engine! I've been playing Devils Crush on an emulator for a while now and I just had to play it on the real thing.

Stung for £21 at customs but that isn't too bad IMO.

Now I just need to wait for my everdrive to turn up.

I remember a playing Bram Stokers Dracula game on a PC engine emulator as a kid.

Does the PC engine have a lot of quality games?

Awesome! Sweet pickup. Comes with the tennokoe bank also. I have core grafx with an everdrive. I also fitted an rgb amp into my tennokoe bank along with a 21 pin scart socket so I can use regular scart cables. Download is one of my favourite games!

Enjoy!

Awesome tip off! I had done a little research on RGB before I bought it (hence why its a CoreGrafx and not a standard PCE with RF!) but I only came across the internal mods which I was about to do!

I'll mod the bank then, saves messing with the console itself.

I may also have to spray paint the multitap, that white colour just offends me :p

Yeah tennokoe' are pretty cheap and are easier to work on. I didn't want to have to swap the DIN out on the machine as you need to get one with the correct pitch. This is mine. I've since straightened out the socket cuts.

Ah the pc engine was a fine machine! That little 8bit beauty gave many a megadrive a run for it's money. I remember importing a duo when I was about 16-17, couple that with the arcade card and it was a potent little monster. You'll have to get yourself the cd-rom add on, theres some truly amazing cd games like gates of thunder, lords of thunder, sapphire etc.

These old PVM's really are magnificent displays. I currently only have my PS2 connected via s-video and it looks fantastic!

I've bought a Megadrive MK1 (high def one) that came with Sonic, Castle of illusion and Quackshot. Powerpack, 2 pads and RF switcher are all Sega official (console unboxed unfortunately but you cant have everything)
Also bought an Mk1 Sega official scart adapter, Ecco the dolphin, Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 and Megagames 1,2 and 3.

Total spend is £95 so far. It sounds a lot but im pretty sure I will be able to get this back for the lot if (when) I get bored. The official Sega scart lead is very hard to come by and the games sell well

Time to play some proper games like Italia 90, Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombats before they got stupid and the hardest and most complicated game known to man...

edit - more pics to come when all arrives next week :)

That's an awesome collection of games you got there. Pretty much my childhood years of playing the Megadrive! :)

Thanks :) - Mine too, time to re-live the early 90s. I dare say i'll be inviting a few mates over for beer and gaming night soon. I never actually owned a Megadrive as they were too expensive (well, parents got me bikes and a motorbike instead :p ) A good friend used to have one though so would spend many hours at his house eating sweets and playing games... up, down, left, right, A Start. It's amazing what you remember and what you don't!
