Rift £200 off

Good advice, I'm having to be patient although it's difficult at times.

I'm slightly in the opposite situation though, I impulse bought the rift which is still boxed up as I'm awaiting Graphic cards to return to a sensible price.

Was thinking a second hand 970 as these can be had for about £130 but I've noticed 1060 prices are returning to around £200 new so that may be the better option.

Going to be patient though as I hadn't accounted for purchasing a rift this month, let alone a new card on top.

Same for me actually, I've a 960 that I've been keeping since before I built my new rig, intending on getting a 1070 and then a rift but kept putting it off. 200 off forced my hand so now I'll most likely get a 1060 and look at a 2070 or 1170 or whatever the next gen is as a more long term solution. All said, a few friends have the 6g 1060 and they are beasts for 1080p gaming .

Hmm...

on monday when i managed to get an order in at big river it was technically an order for the older set with the rift and xbox controller + that little remote and a separately packed touch controller set because it was the older listing i ordered from and not the new one they have pre orders for at 499. Now obviously i'm not really expecting to get that particular pack as they sold out pretty quick but i did just get a confirmation email saying that my rift touch controller has shipped and when i checked my account it says that the controller part shipped but not the rift itself (the rift and touch controllers show up as separate orders in my account page as like i said the order was for the old sku bundle rather than the new bundle).

Not really sure what to think about that tbh, i'm guessing its because they shipped me the new single pack and could only confirm on one of the items but i'm secretly hoping that i do get the old version with the xbox controller etc although im pretty sure its not gonna happen.Guess i will have to wait and see.

I cancelled my orders at Oculus and another store. Instead I used a German version of a popular UK online retailer and they have sent the touch out already and the rift is set to be dispatched on Monday. Ive been informed it may be the xbox controller version.

Annoyingly, the south American river place has both the headset and touch controller's in stock separately. I spoke to customer service and they can't sell them at the bundled price :(

If they've sent your Touch controller separately, you'll either get the original Rift box with the XBox controller, or you'll get the new box which would actually give you some spare Touch controllers and therefore a 3rd sensor. So, it's pretty much win-win either way :)

Did you get your controllers yet? I take it you mean the german site of the place i got mine from.Ive been thinking about it a bit and when i checked out for my order the delivery options were for Prime expidited del as well as standard and nominated day.Makes me wonder if mine is coming from the Deutschland warehouse as well.

When i checked earlier today my rift status had changed to dispatching now but later changed back to not yet dispatched.

Not yet, its on its way via France and should get here on Sunday.

This has probably been asked a million times, but can you get the Oculus to work with steam games that only have the Vive support? and is it much faffing if you can?

There seems to be a lot more games for the Vive and I don't really want another store app so will end up just staying on steam, so i've been waiting for it to come down in price, but it's not looking likely at the moment.

I must admit, being a vr noob myself, that this is something i've wondered about. I'm pretty sure that there is a thing that works the other way round though that makes oculus games work on the vive.

I find the performance from Steam stuff a little lacking sometimes, could really do without SteamVR itself (which offers an environment like Oculus Home) - with Oculus Home, SteamVR and then a game or experience running I find I need to reboot every now and then (or at the very least stop all the programs and restart the services, Oculus Tray Tool is useful for that) to get performance back to acceptable levels.

Functionally though it works okay. I've only got about half a dozen VR titles on Steam, but they all work on my Rift.

There really isn't such a thing as a Vive only game. Vive uses SteamVR, and the Rift works with SteamVR. The problems you might run into are hands/controllers not lining up with the Touch controllers if the developer has only used Vive to develop on, or button mapping that isn't particularly ideal (a lot of Vive games don't use the grip button to actually grip things, given that is notoriously poor, so you'll find a lot of games use the trigger to pick things up instead).

Did you disable the two SteamVR reprojection options? If not, do so. Leaving them on has been known to interfere with the Rift driver doing ATW/ASW, thereby causing slowdowns.

Yeah I did. It mostly seems to be "steam vr home" (or whatever it is called) that's causing my performance problems, if I manage to launch and quit games without ever going there I'm generally okay.
