RM before 1pm item not delivered

Refund is on the way, but wow, its a cheque in 2023, not a refund from where I paid.

This wasnt confirmed via email after being on hold for slightly over 2 hours was confirmed on phone.

There is hardly any branches these days, not sure if I will be bothered to deposit it. Unless they can be submitted online somehow.

Hold on. Have you fallen for the old 'The check is in the post' line? Deary deary me.

can submit them in your banking app :)

Well registering the app was easy enough, however it wasnt clear where to detach the cheque, I initially detached it in wrong place which by bad fortune was through the number at back of cheque, scanned the front, then taped it together at front to scan back, and after a few attempts the number is just about eligible.

If its rejected, lloyds say it will be required to go in via a branch ,I have decided now out of principle, I will escalate with royal mail if this is rejected (they will need to cover my taxi fares to branch or refund digitally).

After they've stopped laughing at the cheek of the guy trying to get money out of them because you ripped the cheque in half they'll probably at best just cancel that one and issue a new one.

End of day I just want low hassle refund, they are perhaps naive if they think there is no extra costs to using an obsolete inefficient way of refunding people, even better actually meet the target date of delivery, hopefully its accepted and is no issues.

The back number is at the corner, the tear is 2 cms, hardly ripping it in half.

Can also pay cheques in at post office
I still need a taxi to get there. Just would be cheaper.

It was pretty good on the photo, it depends how fussy the bank is I think, but for a low amount I do think it will be accepted.

Thanks though as its nice to know that, given bank branches practically dont exist now.

Royal Mail are end of life, they serve no purpose other than mis-delivering mail now.

Soon as the older generation die off, we can all move over to emails instead of Christmas and Birthday cards and get rid of the RM.

I take it the passport is okay and not lost? Just not delivered on time?

I would love to share the sentiment - I agree they are definitely a shadow of themselves these days. However, they are the only company I can send goods from Northern Ireland to mainland GB without having to lube up with regards the cost.

Fair point. I’d like to think someone would take their place should the RM die but it’s likely prices would increase with every delivery company with less competition around.

Cheque cleared, and do also already have new passport. Feels a bit cheaply made compared to the old one, it arrived already falling apart, but its done now anyway.

The refund fund is flaky, I had to answer one of the questions incorrectly, as it misbehaved on the right answer, I couldnt add all the lines of the address as there isnt enough lines on the return form, it doesnt auto populate the sender address from the tracking, doesnt even have a auto fill based on post code. Finally it blocks all right clicks and copy/paste. I assume to increase the likelihood of manual typing mistakes so a refund could be denied.

Yeah, this seems a common tactic by companies who are obligated to offer compensation for failure to do their job.

Sent something Friday morning via Special Delivery and it has not moved on the tracking from "accepted at post office". I sent another parcel at the same time via Tracked 48 which has been delivered this morning....

The irony is that it was literally being sent to somewhere 15 mins drive up the road (but had to send it as it was an ebay sale).

It was a big parcel too (ie just under medium parcel max size). I cannot comprehend how you can lose a big parcel or miss it on collections, so essentially it has been stolen hasn't it : /

Ive not once had an issue with tracked 48. To be honest, i'm starting to think that sending something via special delivery is just a massive signpost to say it is valuable, which no doubt attracts any real scummers that work for the post office/RM.

Is the insured amount covering the cost of the item?

Doesnt bode well if its not even at a depot.

Yes, more than enough. I just can't even entertain the idea it has been lost, considering its size, so i imagine someone has just stolen it.

The only other conceivable scenario is that the label has got damaged.
