RM before 1pm item not delivered

If I may pose a question to this particular brain trust.
Without getting into too much detail on my predicament (yet again) the long and short of it is, I posted said item, 2 weeks passed with no movement and I submitted claim as per RM instructions.
Of course didn’t it resurface this week out of nowhere. Agreed with recipient to refuse delivery so it could be returned but his postie excelled himself and didn’t even attempt to deliver it - just left a slip for collection at the Delivery office.
So the way I see it is I have 2 options, let it sit there until the 28 days have lapsed at which point it should be automatically returned to me. Or ask the recipient to go to the office and refuse it (more work for him and I’m sure he’s sick of the situation).
If it sits, gets returned but somehow gets lost again - does this void my insurance? There is small print regarding acts of negligence or omission from either party - I’m not sure if this extends to not collecting a delivery?
Finally, is there any way I can make contact with RM or even the Delivery Office and have the item returned?

We have a bunch of parcels (containing Christmas present orders :( ) stuck in local Royal Mail offices. Mostly 'parcel 48' service so not priority, but several were dispatched 1-2 weeks ago.

Got a package from PostNord on way. Orderd 1st December. Still not here. Now telling me wont arrive till at least 26th December!! Can't claim refund till 26th either. What rubbish. It was xmas present order in plenty time.

I would never purchase anything in DEC and expect it to be delivered in DEC. If I don't order online starting first NOV to middle of NOV I won't buy online.
Mine was Amazon Prime delivery. It is last item needed but sorry yes you of course expect things to be delivered within a month. Suggesting otherwise is daft. There has been plenty else delivered.

Evri delivered my Beer52 package from Scotland was dispatched 8th December and arrived 9th December! Ordering something on the 1st and it take 2 days to get from one country to another but then 20days to be lost in the UK is not expected.

Without this years issue last year I ordered things for myself on 19th and 20th December and got them next day just fine too. Yes things been bad this year but there is no excuse for 20days of it being stuck in the same location and they know it is so update their system 3 times to say sorry you have to wait till 26th to ask for a refund.

Got one of these through the door from the postman this morning:

RM have just spent the last 6 weeks demonstrating to everyone that they can't be trusted to deliver letters & parcels reliably and on time... do they really think anyone is going to be stupid enough to trust them with potentially life-saving medication?

I trusted DPD with mine, and it's been sat in a depot for nearly 3 weeks!
Medication is always best left to a local pharmacy - either for collection or delivery by the chap in a van doing his rounds straight from their door.

Possibly, although I can't see it on the RM website nor was I informed at the time of purchase. So I'll still put claims in and see what happens.

As an update to this. I've had my first cheque through the post for one of my 3 Special Delivery claims that were delivered a day late the week before christmas. So it's worth claiming!

Just 2 more to go that were also delayed.

I also had 3 submitted and have received one email stating I would not be compensated (and they were all 1 week late).
Furthermore, I’m still awaiting an outcome on my lost claim as well

That doesn't sound right. were they also special delivery?

Yes all Special Delivery. The loss claim was submitted on 5th December. They state 30 days for resolution so I will probably give them until next week (to allow for festive holidays) before following up.
As for the delayed claims, they just quoted their website regarding their Guarantee not applying due to strike action.

Still waiting for a parcel 24 that was shipped Xmas Eve and it's still at the sender's post office.

On a different note why the hell do I have to get threats from companies saying stuff about fraud and getting the police involved if a delivery company has lost my parcel?

I think a month wait for a Hoover is long enough to realize it's not coming, who the hell loses a Hoover it's hardly small. This one was with Evri.

After this December I won't be using anything other than Amazon who have been excellent, and a couple more online retailers I can't name. One has same day delivery the other I can order at 8pm and get it next day.

Might just depend on who reviews the claim then. I still haven't seen anything on their website saying they are suspending the guarantee.

DPD are struggling to pick up our orders for customers...either not sending a lorry or sending half what we need.

DHL seem better at the moment.
