Pregnancy weight? Haha, worst excuse ever.

I've been piling food in this week. Two lunches out, one of which was an all you can eat, curry tonight, loads of cake at work as we've had a birthday and someone finishing for maternity leave. Good job I'll end up north of 100 miles for this week.

It's the lack of miles mean I'm 5kg heavier than I was on 1st Jan. :(

I hate sydes brae, that ******* made me feel sick because I hit it too hard too early.

I'd use less of a hill and do more of them at a quick pace though, the hill before the brown soil on the backroad from Strathaven road.

Depends on what hills you were to encounter in a race I guess but if you can nail it up slight rises it could work better than getting up the really steep bits.

Good job doing 5 of that loop though!

Just to remind myself how much that hill ****s my **** up I went up it after coming home from her bit. Didn't help it was a headwind or crosswind most of the way home.

I actually feel like death riding up it, no way I'd do it 5 times haha. Between 17-20 seconds between us so you should come out tomorrow with the 9.15am bunch at calderglen.
I plan to go out if I get up early enough, will be interesting to see how I get on with what was a bunch of 30 guys last week.

Edit: Haha **** sake just saw you on the EKRC FB page. The bus stop at the entrance to calderglen is where they meet.

I was after some rim tape there and I ended up with a non-alcoholic beer and a freebie from Muc-Off that turned out to be some weird strapping / webbing this no obvious purpose.

I asked for a freebie bag at the Muc-Off stand and the girl put in 5 samples of lube, some haribo and a little booklet.

Not much else really freebie wise. Got some pistachios, some Team Sky recipe cards and tried most of the free drinks they had. The ones being billed as amazing recovery drinks like the cherry stuff seemed a bit of a fad and just tasted like juice.

Haha, excellent. Yeah, i'd been meaning to get along to one of their w/end rides for about a month, but kept having stuff happening with either work, family or being away on hols. But should actually make it along this time.

I know that route they are doing quite well. Hope that wind dies down by the morning - though we'll be flying after the left turn at Muirkirk towards Douglas!

one arrived :D Thanks again for the heads up

I usually work Saturday so can never make it out. Hopefully see you there.

Never really ridden in a bigger bunch so will be a learning experience.

Recommend me a front and a rear light please?

Got 2 Lithium Ion batteries that I used on last front light but didnt get it back fully from my charity ride and didn't get the rear light back at all!

Can someone recommend another one - key thing is I would like to buy another mount to put it on time trial bike (and ideally fits vertically) and the front light HAS to light up dark country lanes in pitch black without lights for miles! Last one was a BK10 XTAR.

Hope Vision. Wiggle aren't selling the R2 anymore, but you can probably find it online somewhere.

This for example will light whatever the hell you need, and an awful lot you don't ;).

Well I got smashed totally today.

I felt nicely prepared, breakfast and then pasta 2.5 hours before the race. A banana and some raisin bread before the start and a 10 minute warm up on the rollers.

100km handicap road race in few towns over, just over 200 entrants. The handicapping to me seemed a little dodgy in places, I was off 18 minutes off limit, yet someone from our club who got put up into B grade with me last week was off 35 minutes!

It was a pretty flat and windy course, which doesn't suit me, I can't hammer the flats and I'm tall so the wind catches me badly. Our group went off at 45km'h with lots of people shouting for people to roll through and pull turns. I was struggling to hold on. I pulled a few turns which was probably a mistake as a few KM later out the back of the group I went. Only managed 10-12km before being dropped, but I wasn't the only one....

The next bunch came through quick too and I couldn't hold onto them. Then a group came past which I got onto the back of, but the guy whose wheel I was on went pop himself, so he dropped a few rider lengths, once he pulled over the gap was too big to pull back in the wind.

So I had a lovely 80km semi solo ride, I grouped up with a few other people for a little while, but it was tough in the wind. Rode the last 25km with a guy from our club who was in the group off just before mine, he found the pace too quick like I did.

Once I lost the wheel I had hoped to go under 3 hours, ended up just outside that, average of 31.5km'h.

depends what type you want really

do you want one with an external battery pack ? if not I keep looking for a second hand Lzyne Mega Drive, which you charge by USB and has a battery pack inside it, so you can swap it out if you need to

as for rear, being as I have a toppeak bag, im getting the toppeak redlight mega

both rated as one of the best lights

I use a couple of these when mountain biking and just one when out on the road. The beam pattern is pretty crap as standard for road use but a bit of plastic stuck to the lens gives an ok cut off so you're not blinding oncoming traffic.
