So I have a crack in my Ribble frame, fairly sure this must have happened yesterday as I haven't seen it before and I'm fairly obsessive about frame cleaning:

Can that be fixed, or is it game over for the frame? Also is it actually safe to ride given its housing the handlebars..

Unless its just the paint then warranty on frame time?

Too many spacers you see ;)

My Strava from the weekend, longest ride I've done so feel ok about it. Think I must have slightly adjusted my seat when I was trying to solve my creaking noise as my sit bones are sore! A 20-40kmh Westerly wind made it tough, esp on the return.

Got a week on holiday now so will try not to put too much weight on, then the following weekend is the club championships.

2 years in the EU is all they have to give?

Had a guy with the same frame with his forks in two pieces not long out of warranty and they didn't care.

The headset sits on a metal cup which is pressed in to the carbon head tube on that frame. Have you been riding with a bit of play in the headset at all? A shock from a pot hole could give a sharp knock to it I guess.

I just tuned in. Didn't realise it would be pro & continental teams so Rapha Condor and Sky mixing. At least it's not raining though. Went out for an 8 mile run this morning and it's bucketing it down in the SW

Not noticed any play, it's seemed absolutely fine. Typically the warranty status if 2 years would have ended 3 months ago..

I guess the sensible thing though is to not ride the bike at all?

Your garden needs attention

Why?

Well that was fun. Just back from Ride London 100 and had a great ride round. Here's my Strava incase anyone is interested. I started it in the neutralised zone so it shows 102 miles. I am pretty pleased with my effort. Rode pretty much solo all the way. Had a rough patch between 70 and 80 miles but then recovered for a decent finish. My goal was sub six hours and I beat that. Possibly could have gone closer to 5 hours with a bit more training and less headwind for the first 40 miles

You need to strip it down to make sure it isn't superficial, I suspect it isn't thats quite a lot of spacers and the extra leverage does put extra stress on the steerer and frame.

Still make sure there is no play and that the collar/tapered spacer isn't touching the frame in the area where the crack is.

The outside of that bottom tapered spacer should never touch the frame, it has an inner ring inside which should sit on the main bearing. Where the two meet will have some very thin washers that alter the height making sure the spacer sits on the bearing and not the frame. If this area has ever been rebuilt these could have been missed.
