...or maybe it is because I now weigh 55.5KG :o

JEEZ!

Not long to go until the london 100. Just baked some lovely granola/flapjack bar things to keep me going. Not sure what to go for breakfast wise though, either scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon or a big bowl of porridge. Or both. Maybe both is the best bet.

Both, for sure.

My parents are in London this weekend for something, and they're fretting about how public transport will be tomorrow in the wake of the big London ride.

That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking of using it for

My R5 is setup for hill climbing with compact gearing. I wan't something 'like' an R3 built up with standard cranks for winter training/commuting/racing etc

Couple of pics of my R5:

Lordy thats beautiful. C50s and Dura ace.Face it not much else will compare to this. Its a Pro bike! and one to be proud/jealous of. Well maybe some c35 tubs would be a nice addition if its climbing you like.

This mornings spin - http://app.strava.com/activities/71800635

Legs were on the sore side to start with so didnt know how i'd go, seemed to get stronger after 20-25 miles though, when riding into the wind for about 8 miles! Wierd, maybe the porridge kicked in!

Have another slight issue, on some of the steeper climbs (mainly small chainring, maybe mid to upper cassette, sat down) i could here a bit of what i can only describe as graunching, sounded more like it was coming from the backwheel rather than the BB though.
Took my cassette off and the freehub body has a small amount of sideways play, i assume it should have none? I have the old cheap set of wheels from my wifes Allez to compare and there is no movement in them at all.

Video - http://s1313.photobucket.com/user/duckson/media/VIDEO0032_1_1.mp4.html

Video isnt that great but there is a noise when waggling it and you can see a small amount of movement that you cant see very well if at all in the vid.

Opinions welcome!
(wheel is a Dura Ace 9000 C24).

Cranks seem fine, no movement of play at all.

I'm still jealous of all you people doing the Ride 100!

Is protein like eggs and fish beneficial before a ride? I normally go with the large bowl of porridge with honey.

I was pretty lucky to get it for the price I did tbh but it is a great bike, I doubt you would notice much difference if any though with the R3. My favourite of the '13 range is probably the 105 frameset which is all silver. About 1K from an authorised retailer for the warranty is my target. Fingers crossed :D

No play in my C24's mate

Porridge ftw.

Thanks again.
Going to take it back to Merlin tomorrow to see what they think.
I said a graunching noise but its more a creak/groan really, not that it matters!

I'm up to here with Shimano at the moment, on the verge of ditching my new bike and buying a cheaper Ribble with Centaur and Zondas and free up some cash.

Apparently it's nuts if you're around the route!

It's tasty and fuel - will have probably end up going for:
3 eggs, salmon, 2 slices of toast, porridge with golden syrup and some seeds, washed down with a coffee. Sorted :)

I'm hoping by about 5pm onwards I will be able to get to RP for an evening ride without too much trouble!

Fancy a couple of laps after the 100mi oli? :D

Fitted my new Aero roof bars to the 4007 today and then the Mont Blanc Barracuda carriers. Awesome bits of kit, so simple but so clever at the same time. Much better than the rear mounted rack I was using, I can actually get into the boot now.

Found the Barracudas a bit fidly to understand at first but then all of a sudden you have a 'Eureka' moment and their simplicity shines through. ;)

Thanks to Calpol and everyone else who chipped in with much appreciated words of wisdom. ;)
