They did this to many of the roads in Surrey prior to the Ride100. Dangerous as hell and significantly increases the chance of puncturing!

And post ride. Walton on Thames to Hampton Court was chipped some time in the last three days. I thought there was mist this morning, but as I got closer I realised it was dust. For 4km.

well thats me happy, knocked 1 min 38 secs off my short 13.2km route. and get a 5th on strava :D now if only one section wasnt full of people slowing me down!!!

When I did my ride at the end of June I couldn't walk when I got to the end! Right leg was in agony. Your ride is shorter but has the same climbing.

You're a better climber than me though so I think you'll be fine.

I wouldn't say better. Some of those rides you've done are mentally hilly and like I said, my only century was a flat trundle round Cheshire. Much respect from me for doing those rides.

My problem is pacing. I'll happily sprint up a hill with my HR in the red but on a long ride doing that on every hill is going to send me to bonktown and a ride home in the broom wagon before I can blink. I'm definitely not a spinner. I might consider sticking my comedy 11-32 cassette on for that ride.

The rides were tough but you've done over twice as much climbing as me this year!

Always best to give yourself a bail out gear and I'd try to do some practicing spinning up hills before the sportive. Deffo don't want to bonk.

22mph is good though! I managed just over that this week. Couple of weeks ago I managed 23mph, don't think I will go faster this season.

Hopefully room to improve for next year.

@Russinating - this is my club's TT route - http://www.strava.com/activities/67576722 quiet roads, all left turns.

Cheers, ye I'm not disappointed with the results, until I tried the first tt, I had never really gone much above 20mph on my own for 10 miles, first one was a 12 miler and managed 22.01 mph, then 21.5 over 15 and then 22.5 over 9. So not actually done a 10 yet, but my local route should allow a 22.5-23 over 10 I would hope, as the last section is downhill and very quick. Certainly got the bug and decided to focus on TTs for next year.

some guy just swerved across me and raged because I was going 15mph down the road and not driving with my pedals almost touching the kerb so he couldn't get past..

I've already learnt if you do that you almost end up with your peddles scraping the kerb which could possibly cause one to lose control and fall directly into the road and it encourages idiots like this guy to try and pass when there is no space.

I asked if he would do the same to a tractor or a horse and he actually tried to punch me and unfortunately for him my natural reflex took over and now I have a bloody knuckle

oh well first idiot in about 170miles guess it was only a matter of time

boot to the wing mirror they fall off really easily :D
