Yeah, but the Canyon is an actual decent frame backed by a manufacturer with ProTour experience. The Zappi is a Chinese special with some eBay stickers that's probably never seen a windtunnel. :p

to be fair, it looks like it's from the same mould as a specialized venge, so i'd guess the aerodynamics are pretty good.
Thats easy enough to see from the exterior, but what you cant see is the quality of carbon used and the layup techniques.
It may be exactly the same as a specialized....or it may be built with much fewer layers of cheaper carbon.

I would probably take the risk on a £300 frame new from china, i wouldnt put down £1600 on a second hand one.

Any rumblings on Strava integration into Garmins, i have a 500 and will upgrade to a mapping one as soon as it does on the fly Strava stuff as it seems such a good idea but no idea if it could be put into a 810 via update or would be on a new release?

Not that im a KOM hunter, far from it but the competition between the guys i ride with from work is all very good fun - pretty sure one of them said the phone based strava app now has a count down to a sector :o

Strava & Garmin Connect are effectively competitors. Only way I see integration happening is if Garmin bought Strava.

How would strata integration work? They're GPS units not mobile devices

The new generation of garmin devices (510 + 810) can do live location updates when connected through bluetooth to a mobile phone.

it wont be long before there is live strava integration (if it isnt here already?)

The 810 has bluetooth connectivity got broadcasting your location and stats in real-time to Garmin Connect so that others can track you (I used something similar so the Mrs and the Kids could come and cheer me on on the RideLondon without hanging around).

There is no reason why data can't flow both ways.

But surely then it's just as battery economical to use the strata app?

I'm not sure. I think that once people start to get addicted to strava, they soon realise the limitations of using it on a mobile phone and are more likely to buy a garmin device, especially considering that garmin are the only gps devices which can upload directly to strava (i think?)

I would guess that the rise in popularity of strava has caused a direct rise in sales of garmin devices.

No doubt Garmin benefit from Strava and vice versa. But the connect service is a direct competitor. I don't see Garmin integrating Strava segments any time soon into the Edge series as that drives users away from connect.

I was actually thinking about this last week. If Strava opened up the v3 API to dev's you could probably hack together a web service where users upload Garmin courses, then match segments from Strava. Then you could check of a select few segments to target and add them to the course file as a waypoints/mile markers/POI's etc.

Yep. It still leaves you with all of the problems of trying to use a phone as a bike computer though (weatherproof, pressing buttons, mounting to bike, visibility in sunlight, using it with HR monitor/power meter/cadence sensor)
