Just received my Rapha Rising Roundel for completing (http://app.strava.com/challenges/rapha-rising-2013), I did 7567m in the 8 days of the challenge. Majorly helped by being in the French Alps for that period.

No idea what to do with the cub scout badge, might look out for a reduced TDF 100 t-shirt towards the end of the year and sew it on a sleeve :)

Well done :)

I got one for a challenge at xmas last year, i think i'v still got the envelope because it was too fancy to throw out :p no idea what to do with the badge either.

A quick google for this hirtherto unknown word predominantly reveals Womens Skinny Jeans.

Is there something you want to tell us :p?

You asked for something that would fit. Jeggings are denim / lycra leggings. Bound to fit.

Personally I'd keep away on grounds of good taste, but you didn't ask for that ;)

If you were going to do that you may as well just wear your bibshorts all the time. :D

I would have thought climbers don't have big legs generally, unless you mash your way up hills in large gears!

Indeed, even the punchier climbers in the peloton are pretty slim. I think I read somewhere that the maximum strength you need to win the Tour is somewhere in the region of equivalent to a 20kg squat, so it's all about fitness not strength.

Sounds like Damien, who tells me he did this hill in the big ring the other day. Maniac. That's bottom gear territory for me.

wut

That's ridiculous, some effort. I need to see the cadence data. :D It's a tough climb up there.

True, or if you're heavier than the other guy but climb at the same speed, you must be putting more power out at the same gear to get the same result. I've only recently dropped below 200lb (190ish at the moment) so I take some pushing and shoving to get up hills.

Here you go. It was an experiment tbh. The first time I ever did that hill I forgot to change to the little one and had to big ring it up the first steep bit so I know how hard that is. Since then I've always little ringed it.

One of the lads who was with us was trying to find his max HR so a more experienced guy told him to big ring/middle cassette it all the way up as far as he can to max out his HR. I thought that was mental but I'm a sucker for a challenge so tried the same (50t BR & half way up an 11-28).

I had to shift down a couple of gears on the cassette when I was near the top but that was about it. Max HR was 183 apparently but I don't know if that was my max or if I just didn't push it any higher.

It wasn't any faster though than the other way. My fastest average speeds are 11.4, 11.0 and the BR experiment - 10.7.

just phoned up my local bike shop to see what they have in or could get in for me for a starter road bike, straight off the bat he's suggesting a giant defy 3 large, even though i told the guy i was 6'3 (and after a quick look online id have to get a xl in it) at full rrp of £679 then he said if you want to spend a bit more we have some at £750 Oo.

yeah think il just buy from evans and save a few hundred quid when i get around to it, unless i find a ebay deal that is.

im all for supporting local shops but this guy sounded like he was set to sell me half the shop.
