Blimey, must have got chilly overnight then! I'm in Valencia for the rest of the week on a conference so I've woken up to a day in the mid 20s and sunshine. There's a guided bike tour of the local area later on, but I think I'm not going to make it because of meetings :(

I wouldnt even use that on a turbo tbh

I actually kind of agree

I'd be happy using that on a turbo. The weight of you + bike is held up by the turbo clamped to the axle of the rear wheel, there's hardly any forces on the outside of the rim.
If you're worried about it, you could remove that spoke so there is even less force on that part of the rim.

Disclaimer: If it explodes and kills you, its not my fault. :D

I actually kind of agree but if I don't get round to buying a cheap replacement wheel extremely quickly I will probably end up chancing it for a ride or two.

I can't believe I rode on it as it is for almost a week. I really need to be less lazy about investigating some issues.

It looks almost as if the crack came from the spoke being too tight? Probably just a flaw in the steel which weakened that part of the wheel... But you haven't been adjusting your spokes recently have you?

I'd be happy with it on the turbo - as mentioned no pressure or weight on it really... Unsure if possible but you *could* put a spot of weld on the inside to stop it cracking further - probably best running that past a wheel specialist first though as I'm not sure of the other ramifications of doing that :p ;)

As mentioned - remove the spoke (or loosen it) to stop the pressure, it would at least prolong the life of the wheel (if you need to) :)

Was quite shocked by the temps this morning - proper chill to the air! I had 'chickened out' of commuting my 3rd day after Sufferfest Sunday (my legs were due a rest day) - looking at the weather reports for today, it was ment to be wet...

Cycled home in shorts last night! It was 17 degrees at 5:45pm! :o

I've not messed with the spokes at all (don't have the tools and to be honest spoke adjustment has always struck me as something that is too time-consuming to bother doing myself). I did get them re-tensioned but that was a few months (and over 2000 miles) ago. It does almost look like the spoke is too tight but I'd have expected the spoke to snap before the rim in that case?

It's just sat hooked up to the old Cotic for now. I'll probably not mess with it at all and just replace it when I get the opportunity :) I may chance a turbo session or two though...

Ice ?! Wtf! 16 degrees when I rode in this morning at 7:00. Wore shorts and a base layer!

Did some hill repeats last night, legs are certainly feeling it today. Definitely, need a better front light though. All of the suitable hills I could think of were on unlit roads, which was chuffing scary, even with 2 front lights. Think I might give one of Torchy's lights ago.

Has anyone brought a seperate mount/clamp for a Cree XM-L T6 torch/light?

The one that came with the light, doesn't hold the torch very securely, and the beam bounces all over the show. There's so many universal mounts to choose from, I don't know which one to buy.

I know the cheap Cree lights are popular, so wondered if anyone encountered the same problem and found a good solution?

which mount have you got now?

I've got this -;

facing to the ground and it holds the torch no problems!

and

harder to remove but more secure I guess - never had the other one fail

Put a load of electrical tape around the bit of handlebar you want to mount it on maybe?

edit: Sigh. You meant the opposite of what I read.

My fault, poorly worded.

It does fit, but I can't screw it up at all, fit's fine on the hybrid bike. Perhaps Planet X just use really thick handlebars

Just ordered 400 C02 cartridges. Work out at 34p each. I have buyers for at least half of them so just need to hope I can shift the others via the club otherwise that's a lot of C02!
