Eeeek....have signed up for my first "proper" club ride tomorrow. To say that I am a bit nervous is an understatement!

You'll be fine, enjoy it, just make sure you prepare for the worst, nothing worse than looking like an unprepared idiot on your first club run :D

Hehe....I've been on the intermediate club runs....which are for folk who are new and these rides can be anything from 40-60 km. Tomorrow is with the main groups, so it can be anything from 70-120 km usually (tomorrow will be round 80km all in, including a café stop). I've done all the intermediate routes so its graduation time tomorrow, as it were.

80km is no problem distance wise. My issue, were it me riding, would be speed. You're way faster than me (on the flats :p) so I'm sure you'll manage fine.

Ewwwww haha!

Thinking of that, I used my last gel I had at work on Wednesday with the strong winds... Have 2 left at home and I'll be all out! Not a huge issue, running low on tabs which is a more important problem! :o

I bought a nice big bag of porridge oats yesterday to make some of these and these as gel replacements (and a snack alternative).

Got a friend who made some ricecake style bars and ended up with about 40 servings rather than the 'enough for 4 people' as quoted on the recipe, no report on what they're like yet...! :p :D

Also spotted these on GCN which look similar to the river cottage ones.

Yeah the GCN ones look amazing. I've already jotted down the recipe, similarly for the porridge (albeit you don't really need a recipe for porridge, but the extra ingredients are good!).

urgh time for a ride home on my triban not looking forward to it lol! can't find a sweet spot when it comes to gearing plus front chainring is so dead it literally explodes and blows the chain off

How do you kill a chainring, what the hell have you been doing??

So, I had another bang on the turbo. Good grief, it's boring and terribly hard work.

I had another go at driving my heart rate up. I got to 193bpm. Last time I was worried about the bike wobbling so this time I upped the resistance rather than increasing cadence and that worked a lot better.

Edit: nm, need to work out my zones properly. Need to test my resting heart rate properly.
