quick question. If i was to buy these pedals http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-ultegra-spd-sl-6800-clipless-road-pedals/rp-prod106702 what cleats / shoes would fit? I'm completely new to this whole clipless pedal malarky.

Thanks :)

I've just bought these pedals and they come with some SPD-SL cleats (Yellow ones with 9 degree float) included and nearly all shoes are compatible with these.

I bought these as I wanted to match the Ultegra groupset on my bike, but if you are not bothere about an extra 20g or so, buy the Shimano 105 pedals from wiggle for £45. They are carbon too.

SPD 4life y0.

Not a fan of not being able to walk properly in my cycling shoes personally but a lot of my cycling is commuting and walking to/from my office. I also cycle to the pub sometimes so... Yeah.

SPD-SL are a lot less practical for me.

I really do need to get round to trying Zwift. ArmoVanBuuren, is it possible to add friends and race them? Could be fun to have a (admittedly small) OcUK meet online :)

Great review of Zwift Armo and really glad to hear your back is getting along so well! Keep it up! I should be in there soon...

I'm up for that, pretty sure you can 'friends' on there, how about clubs? A virtual cycling club! We all know that once it's out of Beta and they start charging for it there will be a lot more rides to do! :)

Yes, sure I've read somewhere that they want to have virtual cycle clubs on there but not sure if it's possible now. Think they'll be voice too, so you can chat amongst each other. You cant make friends with people at the moment as that bit of the website is turned off but you can select from a list of online riders and ride with them. Looks like they are going to turn it into a bit of a social network.

Oh and another thing I forgot to mention, there are powerups i.e. make your cyclist superlight for 10 seconds to use on the hills for example. These are activated by pressing the space bar on your computer but I havent used them yet due to not having my keyboard in reach of my turbo. Think they are creating a mobile app which you can use to activate the powerups rather than the keyboard.

Pinch flat from fitting or something else?

Must be your luck, or your power output stretching the rubbers physical properties to the extent it leaks air! :p;)

hard to say! was fine for the whole night, then the whole day commuting to and from work, and then flat in the morning? no idea! could be a pinch flat due to how hard it was to fit them! hopefully they've stretched a bit now and I'll install a new tube when I get home.

had to ride on my triban 3! :o ah well, full mudguards were nice

A lot could be said to change tyres inside this time of year or to somehow warm them up first to make them more stretchy?! :o

So I had a go at my bar tape and cables tonight.

Turns out the Jagwire Sealed kit doesn't fit my bike, where the cables are routed around the BB the sealed line is too large to fit in the plastic clip... Ofc I had to cut the old cable to remove it as it was too rough to pull back through the shifter.

Luckily I had the older outers, so I just used the new inner cables and put the rest back in the box, could have bought 3 inner cable kits for the price of this one!

Sealed line on the left, much bigger than the cable on its own.

So a few photos as I went, once I figured out the stupid cables it was a 5 minute job to replace them.

Wrapping the bars is a little tricky but went well for my first go.

My recommendation, throw away the included instructions and watch the manufacturers instructions on YouTube. Much better!

My side in green, not quite as neat as the bike shop but this is hidden.

All done!

Replaced the cassette for a new Force 11-26 and a new Red 1090R chain.

Tidy job on the bar tape! With the BB plastic thingy, can you get replacements for those? You might find some with cable routing dimensions which would be compatible with the Jagwire kit? Might mean reindexing gears afterwards though? :(

I'm semi-interested as my mrs' bike has rubbed a couple of gear cables there (and looks very tatty) so I might replace it on hers (and learn the hard way how to re-index a cheap Apollo bike)

Guys the Garmin 'in-front' adaptors, do they make monitoring cadence etc much easier? Bear in mind I've only recently changed from nothing to stem-mounted Garmin so finding it hard looking away from the road!

My DHB Neoprene overshoes have started to 'shed' elastic and stitching so I'm semi-looking out for some replacements. I'm after some socks for spring too so are the merino ones from planetx ok? Anyone use these not-so-think ones? I'll probably get overshoes from them too.

Link doesn't seem to be working and I've read that the ballot isn't actually until 6/02?

They start sending the emails on Monday apparently.

The same thing happened last year, they denied the cancellations meant that you had failed to gain entry and said the ballot hadn't take place yet. It was lies though and they are saying the same this year.

The BB cable guides do differ as I compared to the one on my MTB which had larger guides and the sealed cables would have fitted on, however the moulding was different as the holes on the frame to route the FD cable will differ. Whether or not a different one from another bike would fit I'm not sure, but since I'd cut the old cable to remove it I needed a solution so had to use the old outers. I don't ride in the rain much, just the clear plastic had started to come off the old cables as you can see in the photo which made them a little sticky.

The out front mount makes it a bit easier to read and makes the bike look neater IMO. I don't spend much time looking at it as you get a feel for the right cadence and power your legs are pushing after a while.

Mine says "Registration cancelled on 28/01/2015" :( Oh well, nevermind. Don't like London much anyway :D

Alright Alberto! :P

Out Front mounts are much better imo, got one on my road and MTB, easier for glancing and when you've got your body down. I need to sort out some sort of mount for my TT bike as it's on the stem which certainly isn't ideal, but have my bottle mounted between my handlebars, so not really sure where else to put it. Although can now rotate screen to landscape so might relook at where it could go.
