I have some torch style ones (the batteries go inside) which i use most of the time. I also have an older one with an external battery pack, it's handy because the battery pack is much bigger and therefore lasts longer. I mounted it inside an old bottle and it sits happily in the bottle cage.

I'm also using one with an external battery pack, but I found that the battery pack which is essentially 2 x 18650's in parallel isn't very well waterproofed and the tabs are pretty poorly soldered also.

I was tempted to try waterproofing the batteries with copious amounts of tape, but mounted them in a bottle is a nice idea also. Shame I haven't got any bottle holders on my frame though. :(

I'm tempted to see if I can put the batteries in the steerer tube, that way they're out of the way but I'm still not sure if water could get past the top cap?

I took the plunge and bought clipless pedals and shoes today. I've practiced clipping in and out whilst stationary and have a natural tendancy to keep my right foot clipped in when stopping. Now, getting my left foot in once i've set off has caused a few problems with the shoe slipping off the pedal because the cleat missed and I've ended up smacking my knee on the pedal! Why are the undersides of these shoes so slippery?!

You'll get used to it quick enough, don't worry!

Cubes offer pretty good value for money but they measure there geometry a bit 'funky' compared to most other brands so definitely try a couple out if you can so you know which size to get.

Will do, thinking of sticking to the lower end of my budget and either getting a Boardman Road Team Carbon, or a Cube Agree GTC Compact 2012, both come in around £1,200 and have 105's etc, the Boardman looks as dull as dishwater however it gets great reviews.

Too close to decide.

How tall are you? I recently picked up a Cannondale CAAD10 with 105 stuff on it for 950 pounds, because I'm awesome. But the place I got it from only has 54 size in stock (if they still have any now).

Ah you're 5'11. I'm 5'9 with piddly little legs... Might be a bit small for you :(

but gators are 2-3x the price!

If you wan't durability then Specialized Armadillo's are pretty bullet proof. If you wan't a balance of speed/durability then Conti GP4000s if you just wan't race tyres then Vittoria cx evo open corsa.

Buy on a budget and you're going to get some poor tyres with poor durability and likely wish you had spent a bit more. In the long run it should work out cheaper!

Just put my bib shorts and jersey on for a rinse, but my stupid new washing/dryer decided to dry them too. Not a happy bunny.

So, anyone know of any good bargains for bib shorts and/or cycling jerseys?

suppose, just need something to replace the durano S as it's got a hole in it, tempted to just run it a bit longer (not had a puncher yet) and stick the money to one side, incase I've magically got more later.

That is a very good price indeed. Thanks Diablo.

I was hoping for something a bit cheaper so will hold out, more in the £40 range ideally as i've just bought a flat so money is tight. If i haven't found a better bargain by payday they will be ordered though.

I ended up with a Boardman Road Team (the alu one) and it's really great, I like it a lot.

While they're quite plain it's a really nicely done frame and looks way better up close than from a distance, the attention to detail is excellent for the money.

All the finishing kit is really nice and the Carbon road team has all the same bits but a different saddle I think?

The cube is definitely the jazzier bike though!
