Much better with the wide angle lens. Crappy phone pic, but you get the idea. No obvious hotspot like there was before, and much better illumination for cycling.

That does look better, was it easy to fit or did you have to make any mods? Also do you think its any less dazzling for oncoming cars?

Anyone remember a month or two ago, Wiggle had an offer where if you spent £100 you got a voucher worth £x the following month?? Or something along those lines. I cant remember the exact details of the deal now.

It took about 30 seconds to install. VERY easy. Just take out the old 'lens' (just a flat piece of hard plastic), the put in the other one, making sure you align the lines in the lens vertically.

I think it is less dazzling yes, although I havent got mine tilted up much, as I use my primary light (a diablo) for seeing further away. Although I did turn off the diablo for a bit, and just used this light, and it was still perfectly usable even on the low setting.

I have to say im pretty impressed with the Bryton 40 i bought - £110 with HR strap then i added a Garmin cadence sensor (its better than the bryton one) for £26.

I plan on a full mapping one next year but couldnt justify the outlay initially so went for the bryton over the garmin 500 - i suspect new model garmins will be out soon hence many stores having sales on them!

Seconded. Had my Bryton 40 for about 6 weeks and quite impressed. Don't think it's quite as slick as a Garmin, but then it's half the price. Certainly does everything i'd want in terms of GPS tracking and stats during a ride. HR monitor seems good, and like you i bought the Garmin combined speed/cadence sensor to pair with it. All good so far.

^ Im loving the bryton 50 i got for £75 the garmin sensor works fine then? will be buying that!

i.e will 'Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor For the Forerunner/Edge' off amazon work?

Had my wide angle lens on for the commute this morning and it did seem better, real test will be going home in the dark though.

I also don't have mine tilted up that much to avoid blinding any traffic coming towards me.

They used to have some seriously miserable staff in Swinnertons. The guys at Bike Pedlar in Biddulph were much better but they shut :(

I was reminiscing at the weekend when my mate asked me to get him something back in the early 80s because I lived opposite Swinnertons and when I walked in I was met by Mrs Swinnerton who scared the hell out of me.
She virtually ran at me with a scowling face and said 'What do you want?' and I walked back out of the shop :D
That was the last time I went in until about 3 months ago.
I had my bike from Vekta Velosport down in Basford which is run by Matt who used to work at Rourkes.
Very popular bloke apparently.

My riding has been terrible this week, would understand it if I was unwell but I feel fine. I have made sure not to over-do it. I have been riding every other day normally or having a couple of days between when I have swimming/polo so should be rested, not over training.

Any time I have arrived at a hill my legs have laughed at me and I can't ride up it! I can crack 30kmh on the flat no problem, but hills, no go!

God knows whats up with me, but had better sort itself out as I felt I had made real improvements on my riding in October and want to continue it in Nov!

Excellent service from CRC, my chain cleaning tool arrived today :)

No mudguards yet though, cleaned the bike last night and its brown again today

Are you eating properly? And by that I mean, eating enough to fuel your ride?

Yeah.

I normally eat 90g of cereal with low fat milk for breakfast.

Coffee & 2-3 biscuits at work.

Couple of buttys for lunch on barms or wholegrain bread depending on what i fancied at the supermarket, ham with salad and a tomato, 1L of water.

Coke & chocolate bar perhaps.

Maybe another coffee in the afternoon.

After work ride for an hour or two.

Dinner depends but its always something substantial, meat with potato/rice/pasta/noodles and some vegetables.

Then Pepsi Max or just water to drink at home, don't want to have loads of sugar calorie drinks, but a nice cold coke at work is good when its hot!

Pretty much sit on 188lb with a height of 6 foot 2, giving me a BMI of 24.1!

Sorry I didn't get round to PM'ing you about the mudguards.

I'll have to search for them, I know where the main mudguards are, but as I was a bit ****ed off they didn't fit (due to my idiocy), I kinda threw all the other bits and bobs in a dark corner in the garage, so I have to make sure I still have everything.

Tbh, I think you'll be fine with the Cruds. My front one was a bit noisy this morning, as it was wet and muddy. Might have to find a way of stopping that, but apart from that....not had any issues at all.

Do you have anything before and during your ride?
I often have a banana 20 mins before my commute home, I've noticed when I don't have one I'm sometimes a bit lacking on energy, nothing major, but I can feel my legs are a bit more tired.

No worries. When the cruds arrive I'll fit them and see how I get on, they cannot be that bad if a lot of people use them
