I'm just lazy :p and it would mean on the days that I can't be arsed to switch out the pods I can still use the other bikes ha

Edit: If I got the pedal bodies, could I not just get this upgrade kit, which has the 2 pods?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Vec...qid=1467012560&sr=8-30&keywords=garmin+pedals

Seems like it shouldn't work, as it would mean you could get the pedals and pods for like less than 300? :/

I am honestly not sure on the correct answer to be honest. I do know the pods/pedals are specificalyl factory paired to each other, but like you hint at, it seems you can buy the pedal bodies and pods so cheaply so why does a set of factory paired/calibrated cost so much? If you break anything on these it seems you can buy the parts to fix them cheap enough so I am as confused as you with it all to be honest.

If I destroy the pod on my right pedal, looks like I can buy a new pod, but how do I get that paired and working with my pedals? Even if I need to send to Garmin to do it, does that mean I could buy the assemblies and pods dirt cheap and send them in to Garmin to be paired together and save a heap of cash on buying an actual set of Vector pedals complete?

:confused::confused::confused:

Beacon is much easier than Parbold so you will have no trouble with that one. Shaley is probably the hardest. Other nice ones are Appley Bridge/Roby Mill, both directions, though in the direction of Upholland is the hardest way, especially if you carry on up Crow Lane to the top of the Beacon.

Stoney Lane is a quieter version of Parbold and runs parallel. Its a little easier, but the road is a lot rougher.

Cheers

I'll have a look at those this week, but I'll cheat by using the car :D

Is having 32t bail out gear, much easier than a 27t?

Been down Stoney a couple of times and seen a few having sliding issues.

So don't really fancy that one if I'm honest.

Decided to take my cycle to work scheme bike to work for the first time since getting it almost a year ago... Not that comfortable wearing my Osprey day hike backpack but I need to fit a laptop in. Roads a little wet and I didn't pick the best of routes traffic wise.

Got to work and we have some outdoor decking with new benches and chairs set up as a mini maze/slalom course (wet today). Stacked it derailleur side down in front of the morning cigarette crew :D
Bike seems fine - only pride hurt!

Hidden the bike behind my desk. I wonder how long until workplace resources come round and complain.

if I switch to a different screen when the segment is coming up will the live segment pop up?
My 810 switches back to 'data' screen and then pops the Live Segment screen on top. Got really annoying until I turned off live segments reporting for those I ride frequently.
You can make your own version of the 'Crunchy' bars yourself using rolled oats. (Similar to hobnobs). I get 4 for 50p from the local market so haven't gone to the effort myself yet.
Yeah I've made them before but ended up buying so many things they didn't work out that cheap... Really liked sesame seeds in them!
Pro tip: try not to use them next to metal shelving, frequent static shocks don't do wonders for trying to maintain balance :p
Lol that's one way to train your balance! ;)
NFTO kit was quite good however, still not 100% happy with the jersey considering it's meant to be a small but it done the job.
Good to hear! The shopfront was very closed on saturday morning when I took my jersey back to exchange... (they usually open at 9). Shutters were still down when I rode past before lunch too! :(
This is what happens when you go out with 5 guys that are WAY faster than yourself!!
Haha I did similar yesterday too!
https://www.strava.com/activities/621193699/
Went out with a couple of the NFTO guys (Dean & Darren), was cutting the ride short (as only had a couple of hours) but said I'd ride out to Kington with them then come back. We caught up another guy (Steve) on the way out who asked if he could ride with us, not a prob! A good ride out and we worked well together but once we hit a few of the inclines I was off the back, after chasing back on the long climb out of Lyonshall was brutal! Thankfully a junction part way up gave a little respite.

At the turnaround (Kington) Steve said he'd ride back to town with me, I half expected an easier ride back so took the long climb out of Kington quite easy. Quick discussion and I told Steve to ride back how he wanted - I'd try and hold his wheel (but not to wait/hold back for me). He'd ridden the road lots and it showed as we covered the next 15 miles at 23mph avg (including one hill!). Part 1 - 25 mph & Part 2 - 23 mph! Needless to say I utterly buried myself to keep his wheel a number of times!

Probably my hardest ride for a while, but utterly loved it! 39 miles at 18.9mph avg with 1800ft of climbing. Average when out of town traffic around 19.5mph for 34.5 miles in 1 hour 50. :D

135 miles in the week, 177 in 8 days (did 42 the sunday before), very high for me!

Cheers

Agree with physichull' assessment of those climbs.

A 32t would be way easier than a 27t. I've managed with a 28t thus far, but I think my next bike build will have a 32t.

Plan to use mine for commuting & rides I'd normally put off for being pretty horrific, but I got it in black/red for that matching kit. ;) - I didn't like the red one, so the only other choice was black/green.
Ahh yeah, it looks good in those colours. I like my highviz but I wouldn't wear it on all but the most extremely bad weather winter club rides. When I bought mine they did a total blue or red version but don't seem to do them now! :(
on the topic of shoes, I'm absolutely loving my recent purchase from Decathlon. They're.. different - definitely different. But, £90 for MTB SPD with two dials and full carbon sole - just silly cheap!

They look awesome and saw them pop up on road.cc, although for that money I'd be spending it on another brand than a 'cheap' one like Decathlon. Although they seem very well setup for the money!
Anyone got any good recommendations for bike work stands? I don't actually own anything currently.
I have the
Jobsworth one from PX I got in a sale for around the same money as that Amazon one. Really rate it and use it loads!
Not been on here for a while. Had my arthroscopy on Thursday. Partial meniscectomy and meniscus repair which sounds worse than it is. Currently bored out of my skull but making good progress.
Welcome back mate, hope it's healing well & everything went as planned. Rest up, there'll be loads more cycling to watch in a weeks time! ;)
Great ride & climbing considering the conditions mate!

Regarding gearing, I'd almost certainly look at a lower cassette as that's fairly inexpensive (compared to chainrings). Although if you're looking for a lighter 'climbing' bike purchase obviously spec the gearing for it too...

Couple of commutes this week and then I'm going to Stockholm on Thursday (Birthday surprise from the other half). Come back on sunday and then move out of our house on the monday... This week is going to be packing boxes, no riding & then once moved out will be at my parents (for a month) and driving to work... Really going to struggle getting many miles in with a ~1 hour drive each side of the working day. Goodbye the good run of form I'd just rediscovered, bleh! :o:(

I was looking at Vector 2S/S & Upgrade kit a week or two ago.

Looks like you can buy the:
Vector 2S for £475 and the upgrade kit for £120 = £595
Vector S for £760 but usually around £800-900

So am I missing a trick, not much has changed between them unless I'm misinformed so why spend a further £300?...

Ta, it's a bit of a toughy mentally too as the 20m home after all the climbing is fairly straight monotonous roads and if you're already really struggling it doesn't help.

Fueled on Salad and a coconut macroon with around 380 cals and 1.5l fluid on the ride I was fairly chuffed. Managing fluid intake/electrolytes much better now as well as temperature regulation and not cramping at all. Found it better to focus on avoiding losing salts in the first place rather than rapidly replenishing them :)

True, provided the rear mech will take it I will probably look to those as another option. Ta.

Turns out my clicking from the BB area actually was a BB needing replacing! Fun job though and felt like a ninja riding into work today without announcing my presence from 500 yards out :)

The whole lot just makes my head hurt tbh :p

I tried to place an order on the canyon site this morning for little things like an aero garmin mount for the other bike, their pro kit as it looks really nice and spare pair of pads and I got an email confirmation and then "your order is on it's way" but for an order I placed AGES ago, which I've already received?!
Which included a set of Mavic Ksyrium Pro CLs!

I mean, if they want to send me free 800 euro wheels that's fine, but I'd prefer the stuff I just ordered! :p

Canyon 'website problems' of 2015 are still ongoing then!

I'll trade you an aero garmin mount for some Pro CL's mate no worries. I'll even pay for the postage! ;)
