Not entirely happy with my ride, ended up feeling really sick half way through the ride which ruined the ride, think the gel I took didn't sit well with an empty stomach. KM from home and I chucked it all up, nasty but managed to get 45 miles out on my Cervelo, beginning of the ride never recorded either! :(

Think I've scratched the right side of the bike... whilst being 'unwell' I leant it against a small fence and it slid down... very annoyed.

NFTO kit was quite good however, still not 100% happy with the jersey considering it's meant to be a small but it done the job.

Oh not good :( What kind of gel did you have? And why gel over real food?

SIS, they're normally fine and it might not be the gel, I'm not too sure what caused it in all fairness, seems the logical reason though.

Only took it as I punctured 10KM in and grabbed it to quickly carb up a bit before heading on. It's a bit of a pain as when I wake up I struggle to get food down me, never been much of a morning eater at all so I normally leave without eating anything.

Ah ok. Yeah, I can see why it made you sick then. Not ideal. I'd stick to the cereal bars :p

Anyone got any good recommendations for bike work stands? I don't actually own anything currently.

My time is so limited at the moment....it's quite annoying. I shouldn't really complain as it's all down to actually having a bit of a social life but bleh. I'm actually thinking that for the next few weeks I'll do a proper turbo plan on Trainer Road to try and shed a few pounds and build up some power for my ride in August - not the 300 but the much shorter probably more painful one when BennyC visits Manchester :p

Surrey looked like it does in winter today - stones and mud everywhere. I think I even found a mid road beach consisting of a mix of sand and pebbles. Is it Summer?

Not been on here for a while. Had my arthroscopy on Thursday. Partial meniscectomy and meniscus repair which sounds worse than it is. Currently bored out of my skull but making good progress. The blue thing is an Aircast Cryo Cuff. Fill it up with ice and water and pump it up - compresses and takes down the swelling - it's ace!

Basically finished up my new CAAD12

Bought the 105 bike and stripped the parts, already had half the SRAM group lying around and wanted to lose some weight. Nice wheels to come..

Finally grew a pair and tackled Parbold

Stars in my eyes at the top :D

Well done! It's a tough climb, that.

I went out for 30 miles this evening. It was pouring with rain. I headed out and went down the notorious Shaley Brow for the first time. I've climbed it a few times and it's hard work but this was my first time descending it. I think it would be more fun with dry ground and better light, but I made it in one piece so it's all good.

200 miles this week. I should hit 700 for the month.

Thanks, I've avoided it like the plague in the past through pure fear.:D

Was seeing stars as I reached the top, but I was damned if I was giving up.

Only having a 12-27 cassette didn't help the cause (never mind the 17.5 st of bulk). :)

Shaley and Dalton/Beacon are next.

How do these compare to Parbold?

This is what happens when you go out with 5 guys that are WAY faster than yourself!!

Nice but where are the climbs? :p

Decided to tackle the 50m I was doing at the end of last year most Sundays but with a few more and a short 12% climb added on at the end, pales in comparison to the rest of the ride but enough of a **** that far in to still hurt a bit.

Hadn't actually ridden these climbs since getting the Propel so was keen to see how different, if at all it, they would feel. Quite a choppy headwind yesterday and did get blown about a bit my some crosswinds too, joys of solo riding...

I've 36/52 chain rings which for the most part I really like, I had come from a compact 34/50. I'm curious if I were to granny gear it (28t) currently I'd get a ratio of 1.3 and on a compact it'd be 1.2. Such a marginal difference but on severely steep climbs such as yesterday 20%+ would I even be able to notice a difference? Usually this gradient is relatively short and not sustained for that long.

Though I am planning on tackling Ventoux later in the year (but in all likelihood will have another slightly lighter bike with a compact by then) but was wondering if I didn't (have a another bike by then) would changing to compact chain rings for an iconic climb like that make life a little easier?

Beacon is much easier than Parbold so you will have no trouble with that one. Shaley is probably the hardest. Other nice ones are Appley Bridge/Roby Mill, both directions, though in the direction of Upholland is the hardest way, especially if you carry on up Crow Lane to the top of the Beacon.

Stoney Lane is a quieter version of Parbold and runs parallel. Its a little easier, but the road is a lot rougher.

Quick Q: I had an idea to buy a set of garmin pedals, so I could quickly just swap the sensors over in the mornings, instead of the whole lot. I found these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product...act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1HZ5FPD8FVC3N

Doesn't make it clear what it includes though really... thoughts?

Not sure what you are trying to achieve dude.
That Amazon link is the pedals, as in, everything except the pods. If you were to take those on and off/replace between different bikes you would still be unscrewing them along with the pods every time anyway.

The Vector pedals are seriously the easiest and quickest PM you can have regarding switching between bikes. It takes 2 mins so would seriously say to save your money and just put up with having to spare a few mins swapping them between your bikes, I don't think you have an easier or quicker solution available to you other than having 2 PM's, which costs a lot :p
