Realised before I had knocked the old ones out thankfully. :)

The ones I got were 6001 too. 12x28x8mm. They need to be more like 17x30x8mm at a rough guess.

Going to repack the existing bearing for now.

Is it Fulcrum 5s you have? Which wheel, front or rear?

I checked mine and they are 6001-2RS (6001 is the size, 2RS refers to the seals). I have Fulcrum 7s but I thought all fulcrum used the same bearings.

It it's any consolation I just received my order of p-clips to attach new mudguards to my bike.

I measured the rear stays as 60mm and the fork as 70mm...and ordered 60mm + 70mm pclips....

So close...

Ha! At least my measuring was closer than yours :p

Its a front 2014 Racing 5.

The part number for for bearing seems to be R4-004. And this site suggests that they are a 6001 bearing as I bought and you suggested: http://www.mantel.com/fulcrum-kogellagerset-6001

The ones which arrived today look visibly like the ones in the above product listing. However, the ones in the wheel visibly look like the ones listed here: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/fulcrum-racing-quattro-hub-bearings-4-pcs-id85975.html#info

 I'm stumped. No idea what size you need.

I know that some of the top tier fulcrum wheels have ceramic bearings but I thought the whole range used the same size.

I feel a bit stupid. :o

The old bearing itself tells me it's model. It's a 6903-2RS. 17x30x7mm apparently.

And try finding something online linking a 6903-2RS bearing to a Fulcrum product... Whaaa. No chance. I don't know whats going on.

Took the Pinnacle out for a proper ride this evening, ie off road, started by just hopping off the road and doing some riding on the side of Portsdown Hill, some alright little tracks just to give it a go, was fantastic and surprised by how much grip my tyres had.

Then the downsides! Got a bloody puncture, and I don't have any spare tubes yet! Doh! Luckily I was close to one of our work locations and managed to walk in just as someone I knew was leaving so blagged a lift back! Going to go to Decathlon tomorrow and pick up some tubes I think!

Nah, wait until he's back on home turf, and then he's less than 10 miles away from me!

Not likely to be for a while :(

Bike makes a huge difference too, I was wasting so much power on my giant just with the frame flexing!

You can all come here and ride hills if you want....

Event of the year in April. Hill climb and a Crit on Saturday, 70 or 110km sportif/road race Sunday. Front bunch races each distance, rest of the guys it's just a sportif.

How badly would it affect your chances if we all just tied a rope to the back of your bike and let you pull us along? :p

No but it'll ruin my legs! I'm only a few months into cycling 4 days a week and doing additional leisure riding (I'm including Turbo work in that) :p

You won't know what you can't do till you try! Your commute is 4 miles ish? You'll be able to do that without even thinking about it.

Hard work hurts, the recovery makes you stronger/faster.

In the old thread people were talking about what a good deal this is:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/verenti-technique-claris-2015/

When there's this on offer as well:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/verenti-defense-wr21-sora-2015/

Sora, mudguards and pannier rack mounts and an additional bottle cage mount for an extra £9.02 seems like a no brainer. Great pick for someone looking for an entry level/commuter bike with the possibility of doing longer distances. Merlin PR7 will shake things up when it gets back in stock, even at £375 rather than £300 but it's still a lot better than the £600 that a lot of big name 2015 bikes with Claris seem to be going for.

What, like selling on eBay or something? I'd expect it to go for more like £200, or even a bit more.

You could get a lot more than that for it, maybe look on pinkbike? Everything else on there is so overpriced you'd probably sell it in no time, even if you added another hundred to that.

Really ? I was ready to chuck it in the works skip.

I was thinking Gumtree/local Facebook group. S0 £150 for a quick no hassle sale once I've cleaned it up?

Easily. Old sora isn't anything to write home about, but a good frame and a carbon fork will make a great first bike for someone. What size is it?

That does look like very good value. £66 cheaper than the almost identical spec Pinnacle that I'm picking up tomorrow.

I'm already having second thoughts and I haven't even picked it up yet :o
