Stole a sneaky 3rd place in our club APR tonight in horrendous conditions:

https://app.strava.com/activities/316972008

Slinging it down with rain, blowing a gale and cold with it. British summertime can suck ma baws.

Didn't feel great and almost blew on the way out into the worst of the wind, but managed to hang on. We had a decent headstart on the scratch group, which contained the new national road race champion, and although i got left behind by the two remaining folk from our wee group on the run in i managed to hang on to 3rd with about 30 seconds to spare on the chasers i think.

Shattered now. The cycle home in the rain was possibly worse than the APR. I know everyone's banging on about it, but i really am sick of the weather this year. Worn short sleeves once this year and had knee warmers on every ride. Barely seen double figure temps in the last few months. :(

Has anyone got any use for a pair of yellow Michelin lithion 2 tyres with something like 1500 miles in them? I've taken them off a yellow bike which is soon going to be not yellow, so I've no use for them, but I reckon there's still some a decent bit of left in them. Anyone who wants them is welcome to them for the few quid it'll cost me to post them to you.

I wouldn't mind taking them to try if thats okay?

6 weeks commuting and strava tells me I've gone from 13mph average to 16-18 depending on how lucky I get with the lights and i'm good and stop at every one. Putting in some longer rides on my only day off although I value my rest as I do a physically demanding job. I've actually started putting weight on, on my legs. Jerseys getting baggy and shorts ever tighter around the thighs. Some knee niggles tho, think my cleats need some adjustment. 12kg lost and counting and loving every ride :)

I've started with knee pain and cramping feet, I think my shoes might be too small although they're a size 11 and I'm a size 10, I wear Giro Trebles but they're a bit tight.

I've noticed my bib shorts are getting baggy on my legs haha.

A set of these came with my bike, decent rubber that's served me well so far commuting on rubbish London roads.

I wana try new tyres for comparison, I won't 've using the crappy giant tyres again, using gp4000s at the moment. The roads here are truely shocking!

Shimano RT82 shoes here, I have flippers for feet and not much fitted me as they are so wide.

Think my muscle gain is down to my daily commute. It's essentially me accelerating to near 30mph from a standstill every few minutes and I don't go about it slowly :)

All the troughs are actually me sitting at lights waiting to race taxis. I like to push it hard when i'm almost home too :)

Would anyone be interested in buying my bike, it never gets ridden anymore! As pictured above and as described below in the spoiler for £900 - 58cm size

58cm Boardman Team Carbon 2012 model, suitable for riders roughly between 5'11" - 6'5". Never crashed, in great overall condition and parts upgraded.
There is a great review of the bike found here which can do a far better job of selling the bike then I can!
http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/road/product/review-boardman-team-carbon-12-45675/
The parts I've upgraded are as follows which have made the bike lighter and more agile.
The chainset has been changed to an FSA SL-K Carbon unit, which is lighter and stiffer than the original - http://road.cc/content/review/36140-fsa-sl-k-light-compact-megaexo-chainset-bottom-bracket
The stem has been changed to a 130mm Ritchey C260 which again is lighter and stiffer than the original stem - http://road.cc/content/review/68959-ritchey-wcs-c260-degree-stem
The bars have been changed to Ritchey WCS Pro Logic II which are more comfortable, in my opinion, than the Boardman bars as well as being lighter and stiffer too - http://road.cc/content/review/66968-ritchey-wcs-logic-ii-handlebar
The tyres have been changed to Continental Grand Prix 4000's which have better puncture protection, more grip in the corners and less rolling resistance - combined with the stem and bar upgrades the bike handles better than the review suggests in criterium style races.

Also included are 50mm carbon tubular wheels, built by myself using 28/24 DT Swiss Competition spokes on Hope Pro 3 Mono hubs and fitted with Continental Grand Prix tyres

I wanted to end one driver today so bad.. :|

so he over-takes me really close, well me and my brother - I was behind..

as soon as he does that my brother speeds off(knee is still messing me up) and he windscreen sprays me in the face.. drives next to my brother and does the same ?!

why? why do people do this?

Happens all the time round here. I assumed it would be more regular in London though. Someone got me right in the eye last year, was the chemical cleaning stuff as well so eyes stung like mad. I suppose some people find it funny, not such a hoot when you're on the receiving end :/

Does anyone know any gels which aren't vile? I've only tried the high5 ones, Raspberry and Orange, I think... both are disgusting.

ZipVit? The most gloopy I've tried but with 55g (iirc) of carbs.
SIS? In-between the runny High5 and gloopy ZipVit ones. 20g of carbs iirc.

I get on with most gels thankfully. I normally use SIS but going to return to ZipVit during the Majorca trip.

Last SIS one I tried (Blackcurrant) I thought was grim.

I actually quite like Torq flavours - rhubarb & custard, apple crumble, raspberry ripple, strawberry yoghurt. Mule Bar cherry bomb and lemon zinger are okay as well, just a very strong hit of flavour IMO.

I have been using the SIS Double Espresso (i think thats what they are called).

Quite nice as are the Clif Shot ones

the wiggle own brand ones were ok in Orange and decent value
