You want the lowest torque possible that prevents play in the headset. I just tightened mine by quarter-turns until there was zero play in the headset (pushing forwards with the brakes on), and make sure there's no creaking/binding.

Yep, last thing you want to do is to over-tighten. For the actual stem bolts I use a torque wrench set to 4Nm which should be plenty. Ignore the ratings on the stem if using a torque wrench. Also, maybe an obvious thing to some, but alternate between the bolts when tightening to get them as even as possible.

Anyone heading to Peterborough tomorrow for the Tour of Cambridgeshire by the way? First Gran Fondo in the UK, 80 miles of closed roads and the weather looks like it's going to be pretty much perfect. Really looking forward to it - still feeling the after-effects of the Norwich 100 last Sunday so I'm hoping my legs hold out :o

Suggestions for mitts/fingerless gloves/whatever you call them for up to £30. Go.

picked up some endura fs260 aerogel after trying out loads in the shops. Cheap and really comfy, has a very fitted feel for my hands (XL size). My old gloves where Mavic Echapp and they feel horrible now.

72 miles done today. The wind was against everyone for the first 20 miles and was torture getting up a slow ascent. Everyone was offering a helping hand getting up by taking the most horrific turn in front with horizontal rain and epic winds. I've never had to pedal to go downhill before...

The second 20 miles were great in comparison, sheltered from the worst of the wind and only slightly damp but a reasonably fine descent caught myself and a few other rides out with one patch of grease, gravel and dampness that took my wheels away. Hurt like hell and some nasty road rash and a pretty good dead leg for the trouble. Made it to the second feed station gingerly before cracking on for the last 30 miles.

Worst conditions I've been out in but a satisfying feeling getting to the end and all for a good cause 'n all.

Had a first blast today with the new groupset, such an improvement over the last lot I had.
Mirroring a few other comments, what a headwind today, going up hills was very slow progress (slower than usual).

Looks good, but get yourself an out front mount! What colour are your cable outers? Can't quite tell. :D

I would if they would fit on my bars. I'd need someone to custom make one with a 3d printer, the bars are 75mm in width at the point near the integrated stem!

Cable outers are Jagwire Carbon Silver, but look a little more goldish

Possibly something for another thread, but what are peoples recommendations for quick easy meals to whip up in an evening after being out on the bike?

Reason for asking is I come back from a Time Trial and usually don't get in until 8.30 to 9, so by the time I'm showered I'm not eating until 9.30 or so, usually have some bacon and scrambled eggs on toast, or similar, but I would ideally like something a bit easier to digest and fill me up without being huge. as I usually have a big appetite, even though I know I'm going to bed shortly afterwards.

Guy at work recommended quorn sausages, beans and scrambled egg. Just wondering what other peoples go to's are?

Ah! That's rubbish! :( none of the pro teams use a similar bar you could look to copy what they do?

The cables look nice, they do seem to have a bit of a gold tint to them, wasn't quite sure! Foil is a lovely frame, my friend got the westbrook with Di2 deal. Keep telling him he needs proper dished wheels though!

slow cooker + prepare and leave it cooking in the morning, be ready for when you finish your ride

Not much to clean up either

Check our my thread on lazy man pizza in la cuisine. Take dough out after work, head out to the TT and cook pizza in 10 mins when you get back. Macros are on MFP too.

Chicken & rice.

Precooked chicken, shredded with rice and sauce.

Really hoping my knee is better by Tuesday, still don't know how I hurt it, got a long weekend off the bike in Brisbane, but took it easy last week as well. Three weeks of 300km+ then fall off a cliff and did 100km and maybe 200-300 this coming week, need to get back on it to make fitness gains!

Will be riding my Enve wheels for the first time next weekend unless it rains, big handicap race I want to do well in!

Plus might have an away race first week in August we might get a few guys to go to and maybe stay away.

According to the Sky site, Wiggins' hour record is being shown for free on their YouTube channel and streamed through their website:

https://www.youtube.com/user/SkySportsOfficial

www.skysports.com

Starts at 6, 30 minutes buildup, then hour.

Awesome. Thanks very much for sharing this. I was just about to look around online at start time/ways to watch and you have saved me all of that drama :D:cool:

Edit - Ooooh, even easier, it's on FreeView channel 11, "Pick". Sweet!

Uh, no, thank YOU!

Didn't even see it was on Pick (and didn't even know I had Pick) so it's even less drama for me. Awesome!

Another fantastic day. Out early for a 25 mile TT. Bit chilly warming up at 7! Managed to do my 25 miles under the hour! So very happy. Altho my hip flexors are ruined as my saddle must be a tad high! Another 25 next week! Hoping to get into the 58s!
