Use the old bearings as a drift to knock the new ones in. Guaranteed to be exactly the right size to fit with the new ones.

You need to be careful that your not putting any force on the centre race though. If you use the old bearing you can work your way around the outside gently tapping it in but its much easier to put it in squint doing it like that.

how are you finding them? :) I want to pick another set.. but it's just too cheap for my bike haha

Haha awesome idea! Although I think any 'side' visible light needs to be towards the front of the bike/rider to be effective.

Also have a hole in 1 of my good pairs of shorts - the velcro from my saddlebag came slightly undone and has snagged the inside ride leg. It's not stitch-able, but are there adhesive lycra 'patches' you can get? :(

I've ordered myself some 'Pronty Nylon Repair Patches' after reading here: http://road.cc/content/forum/109101-clothing-repair

Will report back how easy/effective it is.

do any of you run powermeters on your bikes?

just been given a surprise work bonus so was thinking of getting one :) thoughts so far

stages cost a lot in the UK as they only come on new crank arms, currently have had battery issues and only left side power - £570
P2M type s: decent value and seems really solid, can fit to my current cranks - £700
garmin vector - 2 pedals is a really crazy amount so the S type will again be only left sided. They also look a bit fragile compared to the rotor PM's
4iiii - think they are still factory install only with crank getting posted to the states - $400 + postage etc

There's a whole thread about cycling with power. Some folk have stages, some crank based systems, some hub based systems. Try that thread if you're looking for buying advice.

I always thought (I'd not get power unless there was an easier/cheaper option to swap it around) that Vector would be the best as swapping pedals would be a lot easier than hubs/cranks and would also avoid any crank compatibility problems in future (although does restrict you to one type of pedals/cleats).

Other thought was Hub based power if doing any kind of racing and to fork out on a 'racing' wheelset. Probably a better measure of overall power than a 'single leg' system if climbing/racing. A wheelset of course would be much easier/quicker to transfer between bikes than cranks/pedals.

I think the crux of things at the moment is the expense of power systems and any choice you make really dictating what you can do in future (regarding bikes/wheels/upgrades) without having to fork out for power system changes/reconfiguration.

Has anyone tried one of these heart rate straps that calculate power from the rate of change of heart rate? Can be had for £50-100 and supposedly are surprisingly accurate. Could be a good stepping stone?

Not accurate. If you want to measure power then use something that measures force not heart rate. I am not convinced by the Vectors either - they seem inaccurate from what I've read.

What's wrong with an SRM if you want to measure power? It's good enough for the Pro Peleton.

Some cam users definitely come across as massive numpties. However, I absolutely want to get a cam to use in case I have an "accident" cycling. It has happened before and the guy got away with it due to my own naivety and lack of proof/witnesses being unreliable.
