On my ride yesterday my Garmin 500 recorded 2901 ft and my mates 810 recorded 4278 ft! Does make the climbing challenges more difficult!

My 500 robs me of around 500ft on route with 3,500ft total elevation. Friends with other 500's only lose 100/200 tops. (Almost 1,000ft out on the IOW Randonnee )

You can try setting an elevation point and also leaving it switched on for 30 mins or so before riding to stablise but think it's partly luck of the draw too.

Another less 'intense' turbo session, increasing my sleep slightly to aid recovery for my lifting. Been a bit guilty for slowly getting to bed later and later the last 2/3 months. So another 30-60 mins sleep a night should add up nicely over the week. I sleep well regardless, I just need longer I think. (Nutrition is covered :p)

Kept cadence on the high side for the first two intervals and had a bit of a blast/mashed towards the end.

Re-test FTP the week after next I think.:)

Some cam users definitely come across as massive numpties. However, I absolutely want to get a cam to use in case I have an "accident" cycling. It has happened before and the guy got away with it due to my own naivety and lack of proof/witnesses being unreliable.

I'm glad I got my camera, it's just 'there' and I try to record everything 'just in case' :)

Someone who thinks it's appropriate to eat cereal while driving deserves to lose their licence though...

I don't think there's any argument there!

They can be called. Or the footage sent in.

Do you have any information regarding sending footage in George? I've a couple of 'dangerous driver' style recordings which (thankfully) didn't result in an accident. I don't want to report them as an 'incident' as we all know the Police will not do anything and the whole process will take 2-3 hours of my time for each (I know this from the time spent from when I was knocked off and filled in a police 'incident' report).

I wouldn't dream of becoming involved in some of the confrontations that you can see on YT.

Nor me, 'those' kind of cyclists really give us all a bad name and are probably the source of much of the animosity we see on the roads. (I go into this more below).

Yeah, the police. All those police. All those police policing the hell out of the roads.

I think that is part of the problem, as cyclists we see many things on the roads that the Police should see, but more and more I see drivers doing stupid things/driving unsafely and regularly getting away with it.

The main 'source of the problem' (I feel) is the reduction in actual Policing on our roads. This has lead to more drivers getting away with things. More cyclists on the roads with easier/more accessible technology to record said incidents. Include in there social media and news giving more coverage than ever before to really show an 'explosion' in footage of 'incidents'.

Maybe calling the Police the 'source of the problem' is wrong, the drivers are the real source! ;)

Really warm the last couple of mornings, I did a 'high cadence' style workout on this mornings commute, trying to concentrate on my pedaling technique as I'm sure it's not very good/efficient! Melted in what must've been 14 degrees?! Crazy for 7:30am! :D

Note: I'm quite chuffed with my average speed as wasn't 'pushing hard', just spinning fast! Carrying my pack too! ;)

I've been tailoring my morning commute clothing, findings below:
Day 1; 11 degrees and slight winds. Sunny. Base. Shorts, short sleeve jersey, leg warmers, arm warmers, fingerless gloves.

Hands cool (not too bad). Arms a little too warm, body a little too cool due to winds.

Day 2; 12 degrees, windless. Overcast. Base. Shorts, long sleeve jersey, leg warmers, gilet (aldi waterproof jersey with arms removed). fingerless gloves.

Hands ok (no wind). Arms a little cool, body too warm due to gilet being thick and not very breathable.

Day 3; 14 degrees and slight winds. Base. Shorts, long sleeve windslam jersey, leg warmers, fingerless gloves.

Hands ok. Arms ok too, body warm due to windslam not being very breathable (type of riding and carrying a pack not helping!). Maybe didn't need leg warmers, might get some knee warmers?

Any road wheelset for £150-200 that you guys can recommend. Trying to get my roadie off from the Turbo from time to time. It got khamsin at the moment so a slight upgrade would be nice. Camp scirocco? At £165 ish. Needs camp hub!

£250 gets your Campagnolo Zonda Clincher Wheelset. Fabulous wheels, utterly bomb proof. Well worth saving another £50 for.

It was at least dry and fairly mild (15 degrees or so) for our club ride last night, but it's been overcast all week up here so far and set to continue through the w/end. Raining today too. Not really had much of a hint of summer here yet other than 1 or 2 days since April.

Try being a cyclist in ******* Inverness then you can moan about weather  The permanent 35mph gusting westerly and sub 10 degree's temps as of 4pm every evening.... It's all making me wish armageddon would kick off ASAP and do me a favour :p

Move? :p

Winds have picked up here since my morning commute (very West Midlands) but totally bearable. Last week has been good riding weather, probably longer than that but I was out of the country ;)

It was nice before I left too, just quite gusty at times!

Think we'd out do you for wind speeds. Uplands of the central belt is where all the wind farms are for a reason. My house is surrounded by them. Think you'd edge it temp wise though. It's sickening seeing the soft southerners with 20-25 degrees every day when i wore shorts and short sleeves for about the 3rd time this year last night.
