Nice car.

Bit ambitious with the slightly harder start :/ good to be suffering again though. Funnily enough the last interval due to either finding rhythm or it just being near the end for the most part was quite maintainable.

(Need to retest FTP, so just used target power/treshold as a guide for now. Kept a bit back as legs are getting a tickling tomorrow at 'the bar')

'Spinning' more like 'swimming'

Those VO2max intervals with virtually no rest look insane  Though I've had similar experiences to you before /re the last interval - I guess it's all mental :)

I've actually let my TR account lapse. I'll probably renew it at the start of next month if the weather doesn't improve. Quite enjoying trying to put the same effort out on rides whilst on the road at the moment. Quite hard to do and definitely not as time-effective as TR but it's nice to be out in the sun/wind/rain.

Yep, good times. Calling Planet X in the morning to try and get a warranty replacement. If they don't play ball I'm tempted to get the rims rebuilt on some decent hubs.

Hope they sort it out. How old is the hub?

Met OneMoreSolo for a ride after work today. 6 miles in and I wondered why he hadn't finished climbing the tiny hill yet - turns out his freehub broke  His bike is now the opposite of a fixie :/ He hobbled home whilst I finished a shorter route at a fairly painful pace. I felt a bit nauseas part way through as my HR was staying up fairly high. I'm pretty sure the reading at the end was wrong though - if not I've somehow mistakenly thought my max HR was 24 lower than it actually is :p

:O You left a man behind!? :P

Yes, it went just before the line and I fell over it :)

The best way to finish in style! ;)

I've done 11 rides since my back injury and my fitness is worse than I have ever seen it !

only doing 10 miles a day... :(

I am riding 10 miles at my own pace, and just take it as it comes, is that ok ? or should I be looking at increasing the miles ?

Yes Shi. Get used to riding again before pushing yourself too much. It will take time, just enjoy the ride and don't pressure yourself to perform.

Georges advice is probably best, but here's my pennysworth!

I wouldn't overly worry about pushing yourself, I wouldn't worry about distance or speed. Just time in the saddle, your legs spinning and your core engaged in the riding position will be the best way. Get your body/back steadily used to riding! Build that core muscle strength as that is what will determine the amount of riding/miles you can do later in the year. I would be also cautious of consecutive days, your rest days will be very important for your muscle recovery, especially your back/core. Slow and steady :)

Had flat front when I got to it after work today. Can't find the hole but the tyre is ancient and will be changed this week anyway. Ordered myself a Stages PM to cheer myself up :D

I need cheering up too! It's my birthday in 6 days ;)

My quads are still 'achey' after sundays ride but I'm getting strength back, commute this morning was nice - warm sun and little wind, 12 degrees! Even wore short sleeves (but still leg warmers!). Had a bit of fun after having to stop behind a lorry... Attempted to get a tow up 'the acre' but he pulled away fast and soon left me floundering! :D I really shouldn't try and keep up in a 40mph limit ;)

My ride to France with work starts at Crystal Palace. Depending on what time I get to the hotel on Thursday night I might head to Richmond Park for a lap. Seems to be around 12 miles from the hotel (Crystal Palace Travelodge) anyone got any advice for cycling to the park from CP?

Spec me a 24 hole rear hub (light would be nice, but durability is equally or more important). Looking at:

Dura Ace 9000 (no Shimano hubs are available in 24h in 105/Ultegra)
Hope Mono RS
Miche Primato

I'm tempted by Shimano purely because it's not cartridge bearing based, although it is the most spendy.

Almost a year, so not exactly ancient. I've had a think overnight though and I'm going to strip the rim off the hub and get it rebuilt onto a decent rear hub and be done with it though. Novatec front hubs are great and have never given me any issues but the rears are a PITA.

My rear is a Novatec - hope it lasts longer than that  It's done about ~2500 miles so far I think.

In my neverending quest to replace my 5 year old Allez frame which has seen better days I.E head/steerer is knackered plus I'm starting to hate the colour of it (Silver),
I've been offered a Specialized tarmac S-works frame.

It's in excellent condition from what I can see, no obvious signs of abuse or damage, but I was wondering is it false economy buying a used frame?
The one thing putting me off is I can't verifty the history of the frame as to what sort of mileage it's done etc.
