I must admit, your cycling did look quite skillful.

There isnt much room for error in some areas of that video so Kudos to you lol.

3 times in 12k miles isnt bad at all!

Lights are always a good idea, i dont use mine as much as i should. I use them when the weather is bad or on the darker mornings and evenings.

I havent used them in months now though.

thanks I guess, I do get a lot of hate but I know the risks.. and crashing on a bike I guess I'm the only one who's going to get hurt?

3 times in nearly 15k actually! :o I use them all the time, it's just.. easy? and if it helps even a little, I'll have them on.. front and back!

So what are the other options at that price point then? Powertap wheel? I assume that would be unaffected by left/right variance?

Powertap is an ok option, but you're limited to one set of wheels then. Imo the best option is crank based. Powertap are launching theirs which will be in the range of price that Stages is, aside from that only a touch more will get you a Quarq or a P2M.

As time marches on crank based systems will continue to reduce in price as well imo as competition increases.

Sorry Roady, I don't get what you mean :(

In a roundabout way I was asking why you were changing the frame! ;)

I'm the same with my rear, I'll generally turn my front on when traffic is bad and/or visibility isn't 100%. For what it takes to run USB chargeable lights with 2+ weeks run-time I consider it an 'easy' way to increase my visibility on the road. Removing and refitting lights is part of my preparation 'routine' (included with fitting VIRB, 810 and saddle bag).

Which front light are you using grudas? I've a Cateye Rapid X mounted on my headtube but considering fork mounting it... Want to keep my bars semi-clear as with the garmin/VIRB outfront and 2 bar mounted front lights in the darker weather space is at a premium.

Here's hoping! ;)

this little beast! epic bit of kit IMO :)

Right...question for you all about power meters.

How much is a G3 powertap build on a mavic open pro rim worth? good condition, ~18 months old.

Signed up for this years Coast to Coast In A Day sportive. 153 miles with 14,000ft of climbing. Really glad that I'm doing this with my club and not solo!

Haha You've lost me. Or I'm just being slow. I thought we were talking about tyres? :D :p

Lol I got my wires crossed with your tyres and Robs frame change! Sorry!

2500 is good going, should get 3 winters out of a pair then really... If just used for commuting (unlikely) lol ;)

I'd heard the clips were not very good/broke/wore out?

Good luck! The distance might not be 'insane' but with that climbing it is! ;)

Visor might be a good choice if you're having to wear glasses but I would check in a LBS for clearance as you might find you can't get your specs on underneath!

Guards, I'm in the process of retiring the ones I've recommended up until now - SKS Raceblade Longs. The clips on the guards (which make them removable) will eventually wear through (The clip mechanism just not robust enough and poorly designed so tight clearance and tyre rub ruins the clips) and you're then left with guards held on by zip ties (like my rear currently). The time I've spent fiddling with them so far would have been better spent adjusting a set of SKS Chromoplastics (trimming them to fit). I'm probably buying a pair of them shortly as my RB's days are numbered.

Please keep me posted on the guards if you wouldnt mind and yeah its probably a good idea to go check them out, the visor might be a bit close to be hoenst.

Might just try find somewhere that does lenses, theres a few places around here that do them i think.

105km of climbing! Fun times...

Be very rewarding wouldnt it!

Having been to the top of that Gorge on a Scooter it is indeed an awesome sight but I genuinely don't think I could get up that on a bike.

Youd just go as far as you could then turn around and go back down, how much fun would it be coming down it haha! I wouldnt do it unless i were allowed to go back down, imagine how quickly youd cover 105km!

You need lights for your kind of riding and the area, you need to stand out as much as possible, every had anything clip you?

What camera do you use by the way, i like the quality of it.

yeah I guess if I was riding around country-side/country lanes I'd be ok without lights :) but If I want to filter around like I do, keep the pace up etc I need some extra "oh" coming from me ha.

clip me no, but I had a woman in 4x4 run into me twice at the traffic lights! sitting there, waiting for green... bam from behind! how the hell?

garmin virb, still no change! good battery life and quality, plus it's less £100 notes :o:D awesome thing is that you can configure it to start when you press "start" on your garmin and stop when you press "stop" on the garmin too.. or navigate to camera "screen" on garmin and take pictures by tapping on the picture button - on garmin that is.

You any good with the hills like the ones in Yorkshire? :p haha

Run into you twice? How did she manage to hit you twice? How did that one end? Set off her airbags? Haha.

Ive seen a bit about these Virbs in the last week, the start and stop thing is brilliant! What a clever idea. I still use my phone, its pretty accurate and consistant, but i wonder if the garmins would show me as been faster because on some KOMS im trying to get im literally setting the same times now and cant beat myself lol. Theres one segment where im 1 second off the KOM and ive matched that time about 5 times now.

Wonder if the Garmins are more accurate, been told they are?

Want to ride the South Downs (100miles) on my CX bike next week, but I've suffered a few punctures on it, so was going to use some self seal inner tube to try to avoid any stops if I can. But I have no ideas what's good, found some nutrak ones on evans. 700x35. Any recommendations?

Just gonna quote this, as could do with ordering some tonight and no responses :'(

Need some help on choosing new wheels. I have narrowed it down to the 7 on this link: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sale/cycle/road/wheels/?ea=4294767022&mi=150&ma=250&omi=20&oma=1940&cc=GBP

Which would be the best option? I've heard good things about the Zondas.

They need to be compatible with the Shimano Ultegra 6800 11 speed.

If you have the budget then the Zondas. If you're after something a little less then the Racing 5s. Both excellent wheels. I have the R5s as my 'winter' set.

can't be right? I unclip mine a few times a day, swap between bikes when I go to gym etc and I've had it for 6ish months now? still as strong clip-in as it was day one.

Thanks, grudas reviews/reports are good enough for me! ;)

awesome thing is that you can configure it to start when you press "start" on your garmin and stop when you press "stop" on the garmin too..

Never used that myself as I like the idea of controlling when it's on and when it's off! I don't tend to start/stop my garmin either, I let the auto start/stop do all the work!

Wonder if the Garmins are more accurate, been told they are?

Yes, much more accurate GPS wise. Although the altitude on my 810 seems to have a mind of it's own in the muggy/damp weather. I've found it much more accurate, reliable and easy than using Strava/IpBike on my mobiles.

No experience so can't comment, but regularly getting punctures on a CX would indicate guff tyres needing changing not a change in inner tubes to sort?

Obviously if the tyres are good then some of the slime tubes is the next option and I have no experience with them! ;)

What kind of punctures are you getting?

Snakebite? (2 holes together where the tube has been pinched between rim+tyre). You need more pressure in the tyres.

Puncture? (something sharp has pierced a hole in the tube). You need to inspect your tyres if it's happening frequently. No point changing your tube if you dont remove the sharp things too.
