I did the exact same switch, and it really confused me too at first. I've gone from that same combo to a regular ultegra BB with normal shimano cranks.

Only issue you'll have is finding somewhere with the correct tool to remove the BB! In the end a LBS removed it for me for a fiver so I didn't have to buy the tool.

It is simple. 386 is just a combination of a 30mm spindle from bb30 but with a wider shell more like traditional external cups, 68mm shell+width of cups, versus 68mm for bb30.

Remove old chainset. Fit new shimano threaded bb. Bbr60 or similar. Shooty in.

Back to this again, I've just had a panic whilst trying to remove my old chainset (what a pain that's turning out to be, need a bigger wrench!)

Anyway, I forgot to mention my bike has disc brakes and has 135mm rear dropouts. I stumbled upon the FSA site and it mentions this chainset is designed specifically for 135mm:

I can only imagine this is to do with the width? I'm rather worried that with 11 speed 105 I might have a few problems, should I be concerned?

It will fit on fine the only thing I've seen mentioned is potential chainline issues.

Some frames rub like hell as it is without wider rear spacing and I've had some that the chain tries to ghost shift to the big ring on it's own.

Fit it and see I guess.

I don't know what I'd do without the navigation (when exploring) sometimes on my 810. I guess I'd just be more lost! :D

Even the basic navigation on my 200 gets me where I need to go and I rely on that 100% when riding somewhere new. I don't even bother to look over a map of the route first other than a glance to make sure I'm not ending up on the motorway!

The front on shot with the regular light flashing shows just how useless the prototype one is!

OK, I suppose i can always avoid certain combos! Now I need to go find a decent extending ratchet to get the existing one off!

your late Roady, we have always established I was wrong :p

Can I ask a favour guys, I think im doing ok, but can you check my profile
since back injury ive done 22 rides now, want to know if I am doing enough riding, for example, enough miles each ride / per week ? not enough rides each week ?

Wrong, wrong, right!

Mileage looking good mate, I guess just regular time in the saddle is the better thing rather than distance/intensity as you want to continue building your core support and muscles without overly stressing them.

You're not far below me for average weekly mileage :p

Don't think I've ever had it where its been short enough not to last a long 3-4 hour ride unlss I've left it on by accident.

I used my 810 on a 20 minute commute with 2% battery showing.

It displayed 0% battery for 10 mins or more and continued functioning!

An idea that's been done numerous times... I preferred the light you could attach to anything (including helmet) and just did braking/flashing.

Bleh, riding in the rain three days so far this week. Only been that fine rain that soaks you through to quote Peter Kay, and road spray so wet feet.

Using a Contador style arse saver made from a bottle, but a bike with full guards would be nice if it was a regular thing!

Some crap comes off the brake pads and onto the frame, can just feel it eating the rims when you apply them!

LONDON PEOPLE.

I am in your big smelly city for a few days training course around August 9th-12th.
It is in the "London Bridge" area if that means much, near the Monument tube station. Is there any cycling shops you would recommend as must visits in that area since I am down?

If there is anywhere that has lots of in store stock from Castelli and Sportful etc I would love to go as we have no stores that stock this stuff for you to see and try on.

Is it worth bothering with the Rapha shop?

Any info/advice/tips much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Same, but rarely let it run that low. Will be doing South Downs next week, so will see how it holds up, as ran out before the end last time.

commute on SS today. couldn't deal with the sound from my main bike! has got to be BB! do GXP BB's even last 5k miles lol? it seems to get SERIOUSLY loud after the last rainy day, might do with some grease maybe a new BB.. worth replacing with another GXP or are there kits to jump to something more "well rated"

SS on the other hand is good fun, bar the super slow acceleration and the moments where I run out of poof and have no gears to switch down to.. managed 32mph flat out so it's do-able
