Getting conflicting opinions on here so guess I'll have to ask at the meeting , nearest example to what we were doing is circular pace line with the right handside rider moving to the left and that rider moving down the line.

Kent based folk. I have a wedding at the weekend and heading up Friday. Was gonna take the bike to get a nice 50 or 60 miles in before I meet up with my mates. Staying at Rainham.

Anyone got any suggestions of rides ideally would like to start finish near the hotel so I can check in and clean myself up easily.

My mileage for this month is pathetically low. I've really let things slip. Just over a week to make up for it somehow. Perhaps a double metric at the weekend...

Hey so I have inadvertently bought might a Lycra top, I need some shorts,

I bout a Black Rapha Classic top. Any recommendations for shorts, I suppose they all look the same really? Would like some decent padding as I suffer :P
I could just get the Rapha ones, But they are £160.
I just bought some new running shoes as well so feeling a bit skint.

I <3 my Assos bibs.

I've just had a look on Wiggle and they range from £130 - £300  I never paid anywhere near that much. You don't need to spend that much for a good quality pair of bib shots. I have a pair of Gore shorts which are very nice and light for hot hot days but the padding isn't plentiful. And that's where my bib short experience ends. I'm sure other will be able to recommend.

We roll double when riding easy but all roll off to one side and the two who rolled go single file so you're only 3 riders wide.

Otherwise circular pace line when we want to include everyone in the group to roll turns then single file when it gets really quick, usually only 3-4 swapping off, with a snake of riders behind hanging on!

When they say change so they mean roll off the front or change the direction you are rolling in due to the wind changing direction.

DHB all the way for shorts

I'm fairly close to pulling the trigger on some altura pro gel bib shorts for £40.

I've got four pairs of shorts in regular use. One set of top end decathlon ones, supposedly the same as the ones FDJ use, which have a gel pad and are very comfy over long rides. I've got some dhb foam padded ones, which fit well but the pad isn't great. Then I've got two cheapy decathlon pairs with foam pads which are neither comfy nor fitting well after heavy use - the straps are stretching.

I don't really know how long to expect a pair of shorts to last... What do people reckon?

My DHB (one of the more expensive versions) shorts are probably getting towards end of life but they're approaching a year old and at least 5 thousand miles of riding. For something that cost only about £50 or so that seems reasonable to me. If I had some ultra expensive Rapha/whatever shorts I'd want them to last longer.

Castelli alpha is the new daddy apparently!

The pocket liner is the best, but you can get two Gabbas for the same price!

Now do I go long sleeve Gabba or short & nanoflex arm warmers.

I like the black better but yellow might be a safer colour for riding in the rain and dark.

Do you guys use chamois cream when wearing cycling shorts or not bother?

I bother on long rides, hot rides and wet rides. I tend to give it a miss when doing anything less than 40miles in dry normal temperatures.

I helped a lot in Majorca when cycling many miles each day in baking heat. I suffered the first year from chafeage.

I don't, but every now and then I find myself wishing I had when I end up a bit raw.

Might pick up some Sudocrem from Boots later...

Thats my problem, I get a bit raw just behind the balls, just wondering if that chamois cream would help to stop it happening. I've only started cycling again a couple of months back so perhaps thats part of the problem. Might look into Sudocrem, cheer for that.

2 people at the front then the one on the right goes to the front of the one on the left and the one who was at the front on the left is now behind that person. The right line of the group then moves up next.
Seems simple but it is driving me nuts !

has anyone had knee injuries?

I whacked my knee on the car door 4 weeks ago now and it's still playing up. Trying to cycle I can go for a while with no issues then a sharp pain just under the kneecap forms. Mate had to help push me 15km back last weekend with me just doing single leg cycling which was kinda funny at the time. I thought it had settled down again so just used the motorbike to visit some friends but knee being in the bend position with some vibrations made it sore again :(

Doctors booked for tomorrow and I guess might have to book in to a physio?

Picking up my turbo tonight. Ebay "bought it but barely used it then stopped cycling due to health issues" special. Paid a fair amount for it so I hope it isn't too trashed but I thought I was probably best off buying something better but used rather than cheap but brand new.

Comes with a training mat, bike thong, a doo-dah to put your TV remote in, quick release skewer and remote resistance changer thing. Just need to source a riser block.

Don't have any intention of using it until the clocks go back at the very earliest but I guess I had better try the thing out before I go away for another 2 weeks on Friday.
