No, not saying they're worn out, just don't think they liked the damp roads... they're Lugano's btw.

I'm looking at the Grand Prix 4000S II Conti's, they seem the business!

My Planet-X came with Luganos. They came straight off after my first "proper" ride (Liverpool > Chester > Liverpool) as I had two punctures. Have only kept them to use a turbo tyre. There's a reason they only cost £8.50...

And that! I had 2 punctures doing 60 miles back in May - I should have offloaded them then. Didn't realise they were that basic though. The Schwalbe's I've got on my MTB are top notch and they were only about £30 for the pair.

So my rear wheel has gone out of true AGAIN. These wheels have been such a pain, i swear. If you ever have the choice between cheap spec handbuilt wheels and decent spec machine built wheels go for the cheap ones. Would have got some cheap A119 wheels from CRC in a heartbeat if i'd known how rubbish these Open Pros from Rose were going to be.

My HT still has a Racing Ralph + Nobby Nic combo on it, just the Luganos are rubbish!

I don't really have a budget, not when it comes to safety. But I'd like to hear your suggestions.

GP4000S & P4E's. We've even converted grudas to P4E's now. If you're after more grip again the P4 Grip or GP 4Seasons.

Same with me and the Giant tyres my Defy came with, one rain shower and one wet day later I changed them to an old set of P4E's (23mm) before eventually buying some new 25mm's when they were in a deal... Too damn scary on the Giant tyres! :o

Another route check request. Does anyone that cycles in the areas I'm heading through have any thoughts on this route?

Possibly drop further south at the start to avoid some of the Peaks, go south of Chesterfield through Mansfield->Newark? More direct route and avoids some hills and Lincoln?

I paid £65 :(

Paid similar for my 4Seasons. Good tyres I think are one of those things worth paying for. It may hurt 'the fund' when they're 'expensive' at £30+ a pop but most of us should get 8 months or more use out of them (I'm excluding grudas from my averages). :D

I bought 'cheap' £105 wheels (Campagnolo Khamsin G3) and they've been awesome so far (thanks grudas!), well worth the money after the time I'd spent repairing, rebuilding and rebalancing my Giants several times. I'll probably now stick with Compag wheels from now on, the Sirocco's look nice...

Failed miserably to get out on saturday and then it rained all day yesterday. Actually have my bike in bits as I wanted to give it a good clean and it's ended up being a full service... It's booked in at the LBS thursday for replacing the rear hanger and maybe the BB bearings. I'm now intending on handing it over clean and serviced and asking them to check it over and hopefully tell me any bits I'm doing wrong... Anyone else ever done this?

Has anyone had any issues with their Garmin syncing to Strava this morning? My ride is on the Connect site but still hasn't appeared on Strava. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.

Think i've killed my bike commuting through the second winter we're having this year. Bottom bracket wobbling all over the shop, sheared the bolt off the cable guide that sits under the BB (thinks it's been kept in place by caked mud and ****e), needs new chain, gears shifting like a sack of spanners and needs new cables. Off to the bike shop with her....

Also need new tyres for the good bike due to a flat spot all the way round the rear. Looking for a fast clincher that's not going to pop at the first sight of a pothole - any suggestions? Been running GP4000, so may just stick with them.

Michelin Pro4 Endurance :) I imagine GP4000 IIs are better but P4Es are very nice for the price.

I take it from the 'endurance' in the name, they are a bit more robust than the Service Course? I ran the SC ones for a while but they were like cheese with the roads/weather we have to deal with up here - got wrecked pretty quick. Shame, as they felt very fast and grippy.

They're more durable than the SCs yeah. Better puncture protection too. They're slightly less grippy on the downside (though still very good). If you can get on with 23mm tyres then the SC Grip kind of combine the best parts of SC and End.

Nah, i want 25mm definitely.

So the SC Grip are 23s only then?

replaced my BB over the weekend, squeeking is gone! thank balls! wonder how long that will last - 5k miles likes the previous would be good ;)

SC Grip sadly are only 23mm yeah :/ I've ridden on them and they're really nice aside from that. I went back to 25mm as soon as they became worn.

I can't see my self riding anything other than 25c's! I did 28c and those were meaty and comfy.. 23c's are just HARSH

but 25's are bang on for me.

I'm interested trying out some decent 28s sometime to be honest. I've only ridden on 28mm Gatorskins and...well...you can guess how great a ride that was :p

25mm does seem to be where it's at for the time being but I kind of get the feeling that we're going to get even wider tyres pushed as fashionable in the next couple of years.

I've got tons of love for my 28mm GP4 seasons. They're a quality high end road tyre, but squishier.
