What a coincidence, I saw a bike on the train this morning with a Suntour fork on it, and was surprised to see the name as I mostly associate it with ye olde derailleurs.
 
Looks like the end of season sales are starting. Ribble have some good reductions on altura kit. A shame I didn't know about them before I placed an order for some shorts and mitts at wiggle!

Did you say the normal raceblades fit your defy ok?

I might give them a go. I know they aren't full length, but i only commute on my own so i don't really care about whether folk on my wheel would get wet, as long as they keep most of the wet/crap off of me.

The'll keep most of it off you but not much of it off your frame/drivetrain.

I wish websites with 'sales' would actually list the new sale items, their discounts and when they were the original price. It seems to me that most sales contain products that have had a sale tag on them for months and months.

For example, Conti 4 Seasons at Wiggle currently are on 'Sale' at 42% off. They are ALWAYS on sale. They are ever listed at RRP, no one pays RRP for these or a lot of other items. Same applies to clothing and other departments.

And then companies go and bung them all into the "Up to 50% off" sale at the price they are normally!

It riles me. You don't know if you're getting a 'deal' or just playing the normal sale price you could pay any day of the week. All marketing I know, bit it grates on me.

You get the sale email and you think "Oh sweet, ill have a browse". But then you see things that are always on 'sale'. I bet a very small % of things are actually reduced for the purposes of the sale.

+1 - especially PBK and their "offers" - utter tosh most of them.
 
In fairness, the two items I was after - altura peloton progel shorts and mitts - were both cheaper than they had been at ribble and cheaper than at wiggle. I've been shopping around so I know they're both lower than they have been!

Yeah, it is always good when you know you've got a discount because you know the price that it was pre-sale. Most of the time the sales are just a mass load of products and you actually don't know what has been discounted.

I'd prefer a discount code or something. But then again some places go too far with those too... Discount Supplements. There is a sale email EVERY DAY! Everything is always on sale.

20% off - must end midnight

25% mega mega sale now on
25% Payday sale now on!!

I get an email every day - oh wow there is another sale. It completely devalues their products.



God I am in a ranty mood today haha discounts are good, it is just when items are disguised as being on offer when in reality the price hasn't changed is what annoys me.

dumped two guys yesterday who aggressively over-took me, one guy turned off at the next junction other caught up at the lights with a smile and "was not expecting that"

muwhahaahaha! I was running out of uhmf so I'm glad they backed off early :D

PBK are like that now, their emails are an absolute joke. The worst bit is they actually do some decent promotions but they got lost in all the noise.
 
Wouldn't mind a couple of short sleeve nice jerseys, ie Castelli, anyone spotted any bargains, wouldn't mind some relatively bright colours? Size S/M?

Well, to continue a theme, I had an email from Ribble saying they had a sale on Castelli gear, but all their prices look pretty lol to me so you'll have to take a look yourself and see what you make of it.
