Good going! Group riding can be a great way to rapidly progress - pushing yourself to keep up with riders faster and fitter than yourself! ;)

Thanks Roady, I found myself pushing harder, and when you're in a group you lose track of the miles.

Hopefully get out again this Saturday for a much longer route.

groups are good for not worrying about the route too. I'm forever faffing over which turnings I should take when I'm out on my own

Every reason to get a Garmin 8xx then :D I used to ride with a paper map in my back pocket and be checking the route every 2nd or 3rd junction. Doesn't half interrupt the flow of the ride.

Middle-ish. Maybe £50-70 on bib things and ... i don't know on other bits. Last arm warmers I got were from Aldi, but they're a bit thick.
.

Keep your eye out for castelli stuff in sales. I've never paid more than £70 for their shorts.

And another recommendation for Endura. All our club kit is made by them and its good quality. The race fit stuff is particularly good, though you are talking £70+ for most of that again. Worth it for comfort IMO.

I thought about getting a pouch to put my mobile in for Strava. But I think it's best not to keep track of the miles. They go over quicker if you can't see them all the time!

Ooh cheers mr Roady - those castelli evoluzione look grand. I can't decide if I need L or XL. I'm somewhere between 34 an 36" waist trousers at the moment - which is I guess at the top end of L, but i'm coming down in size around the waist area...

I'm gonna be attempting 3-5 hours in the saddle soon, I think, well in several weeks, so if they're good for that, then bonus.

They are fantastic shorts, gold star rating from me! I'm doing 50 miles this weekend in them, around 3.5 hours riding along with stops/cake/coffee I'll be in them close to 5 hours I think. I don't expect any problems as done around 3 hours before no issue.

I did make the stupid mistake of buying 2 pairs of blue and 1 of red when most of my jerseys are red or white/black lol, cycling wardrobe malfunctions - first world problems (and why I went on prendas last night to rapidly buy a Giant-Shimano jersey) ;)

If the White/Black were in stock I'd buy another pair without second thought... I nearly did when I bought my 2nd blue pair, now they're out of stock. Doh!

I'm between 32" and 34" waist in most things, Large in DHB shorts is now slightly big on me, but I have to wear them as M is too tight on my thighs. I sized as XL in the Castelli's and they are perfect, a L may fit but I would struggle with thighs, the torso/strap height would probably be too tight too. Already very 'fitted' on me.

Sizing may get better on me as I'm now down to ~80kg, a nice feeling as last time I weighed ~81kg around 5-6 weeks ago! :D

Ordered some castelli thingies :)

Ar damn. You could have bought mine from me, brand new :p

I need to get them on eBay. I was given them two years ago from a hotel we stayed at in Majorca. They basically said that they had been here for ages and that us cyclists may as well find a use for them.

Anyone got a black charge spoon they don't want? I'll buy it or swap for a black scoop with white trim.

I thought you were saying the opposite for a moment. I have a spare black Scoop I don't need any more. To be honest I can't see me ever changing away from the Tioga Spyder saddle now. It's so much more comfortable than any other saddle I've tried.

With Jono buying some Thingies I've gotten thinking on the cold weather again. I am in need of a new jacket for this year. How do the Castelli Espresso 3s rate? Any one had any experience with them? Sigmas have them for £114 which seems pretty good compared to everywhere else.

Edit: £103.49 with their discount code

Went out for a ride an lunch time to pick up the new cassette. Gave me a good chance to try out the Fly6, especially as 5 minutes after heading off the heavens opened and gave me a good soaking. Good news, the Fly6 appears to be waterproof!
Seriously, seriously impressed by it. Video footage (720p), is very good. Number plates were a little hard to read once the rain properly set in, but to be fair there was a lot of spray from my rear tyre. Be interesting to see if mudguards have an improvement, I suspect they would.

I'll try and upload some small footage to YouTube later when I get home, as I think Roady was interested in the Fly6. All in all, would definitely recommend it so far!

Today i fell in love with cycling. My last ride on Tuesday was 3.6 miles, just been for a quick ride on my break and rather than endure it, i really enjoyed it.

My legs feel a bit like jelly, but after 20 minutes rest, i feel like i could do some more. Not a bad jump in distance!
