Oooh those things look pretty good. How bright is 30 lupins? and even 400 lupins for the front one? I'm considering (because I'm mental) cycling the 15 miles to work and back once my buttocks are prepared for the pummelling they'll receive on the way.
Sadly this is likely to be just around the time the clocks go back.

Aaaand I don't trust a lot of drivers I see out on the roads I'll have to travel around bikes.

Today i fell in love with cycling. My last ride on Tuesday was 3.6 miles, just been for a quick ride on my break and rather than endure it, i really enjoyed it.

My legs feel a bit like jelly, but after 20 minutes rest, i feel like i could do some more. Not a bad jump in distance!

Nice one - don't go too far/hard too soon - I've done that and it puts me out of action for about a week :(

I feel really good. I don't feel worn out at all. Will be interesting at work tonight though in a hot kitchen! I feel really proud of myself as i had originally planned just a 5 mile ride on my break but i wanted to go on, so i did. I thought it'd be a couple of weeks at least till i broke the 10 mile mark. I'll probably do that route a couple more times before i progress.

Wow, you've got some good countryside around you!

Glad you're enjoying it :D

It's part of what swayed my decision to start riding. There's so much riding around here i could never get bored of the scenery.

(i'm trying to upload some pics to flickr but bad internet isn't letting me at work :( )

Nice one. Pacing yourself when you first start out is tricky. I remember doing a few miles and feeling really ill because I'd gone at it too hard. Same when I started again after a 3 1/2 month break. 6 miles = spinny head.

Once you get your pace though the miles just flow and over time your speed will naturally get higher.

30 lumens is plenty bright enough! More often than not I run my rear light at half that as any higher isn't necessary.

Front lights are a different kettle of fish as instead of that light being concentrated in a spot to be seen it is dispersed outward allowing the rider to see. It then comes down to much more than just looking at the lumen rating. That said, 400 lumens is a fair old chunk of light to throw out.

Ar damn. You could have bought mine from me, brand new :p

I need to get them on eBay. I was given them two years ago from a hotel we stayed at in Majorca. They basically said that they had been here for ages and that us cyclists may as well find a use for them.

Size? Any pics? Interested if they're XL! :)

I'll try and upload some small footage to YouTube later when I get home, as I think Roady was interested in the Fly6. All in all, would definitely recommend it so far!

Look forward to it, don't feel pressured, just whenever you can :D

Good going, glad to hear you're enjoying it so early! ;)

:p

1 lumen = 1 candle. I ride with 100 lumen front light under streetlights in the dark, it's ok not under streetlights but will need something stronger when travelling at higher speeds. I think 400-600 would be about ideal!

Great advice, one major part of cycling is 'learning how to suffer' or learning your 'levels of suffering' once you figure out when you're pushing as opposed to taking it easy you can easily judge how to ride for most distances. Me, I know when I'm pushing (most of the time, I don't really ride 'easy' unless I'm doing 40+ miles!), but I also know when I'm 'pushing hard' and can't sustain it for long! ;)

To be honest I can't see me ever changing away from the Tioga Spyder saddle now. It's so much more comfortable than any other saddle I've tried.
I'd buy a couple more if I were you. Nothing worse than manufacturers discontinuing products or making minor "improvements" :D

once you do 10 miles a couple of times 20 is easy :D hard part is getting faster :D

I went for a ride today also, went to grab something from my saddle bag and touched some dog **** that had splattered on it near the zip

I smelled it to be sure.. thank god I was next to a river so could wash my hands.

I was being really careful to avoid poop as well :(, hopefully my saddle bag survives the washing machine

Sunday looks the better day for me, so i'll be out then. Saturday = torrential downpourage.

25Mile 4 up TT Sunday morning for me, that will be fun, getting a face full of rain if the weather forecast is accurate! :(

Well some footage of a rather disgusting overtake on the way home. Just to show the quality of the Fly6. Unfortunately, the jerk overtakes so fast I can't make out his number plate. Right next to a playground as well.
