Few little treats turned up for me when I got home from Scotland!

Pretty gentle. For the sake of buying a cassette I reckon 28 will be sufficient. Even on 34*28 at 80rpm you'll only be going 7.5mph so each ascent will take about 4 1/2 minutes. Add a minute and a half - optimistic- for turning round and coming down and you're looking at a 6 minute round trip. 201 ascents means 20 hours at that speed.

So spend your money on batteries for your lights rather than a cassette!

I can do comfortable 3:20 ascents for 90 minutes but I think you're right on the need for lights!

So the rt90 is pretty sexy! Weird thing I found is that the bottom tube is very thin, like you can press the top of it with a finger and it flexes!

It looks very 'chunky' but I'm guessing thats the aero aspect, what's the weight like? Also looks short? 170? Or just a big 54 ring?

Getting sorted ready for my ~50 mile charity ride. Really can't decide how to dress as it's a pretty cool feeling ~9 degrees here & overcast. Few breezes around and my weather app says a max of 13 degrees after midday. Probably going for roubaix shorts & Sportful R&D Wind jersey due to colour coding (blue today)...

Don't poke it too much! Will be interesting to see how much it flexes with his power? Any way to pay for an extended warranty on the frame!? :o

Went out at 8:30 this morning and damn it was cold! Couldn't feel my feet after 13 miles. Done 34 in the end with numb toes. Loving the Canyon Aeroad. I done a test on a local hil and it rolls 3-5mph faster than my China carbon bike. Thought that was quite interesting. It's lovely out now maybe I should go out again:)

Well, despite being 4kg heavier than one of my previous attempts I was over 2 minutes quicker up Mow Cop today :o It felt pretty painful but I still had a little left in the tank. If I can shift the rest of this weight I might give it another go towards the end of summer and maybe even beat OMS's time :p

Got a pic of uv and another friend as they they came up behind me too :p

Just a 53/39 172.5 but all carbon. Old cranks were 1kg dead on. Those are 750 but absolutely rigid every ounce of energy goes into you going forward.

Complete your first imperial century....achievement unlocked! What do I win?

Well, the warm glow of having achieved it I suppose!

Went to Swiss Hill, really cool cobbled climb and the Cat and Fiddle, so that's numbers #70 and #71 ticked off the Greatest Cycling Climbs book! Felt completely ruined with about 30 km to go but then the malt loaf that I'd eaten 20 minutes before kicked in and I smashed the last 15 miles or so home. Felt like I could have ridden more too!

Super pleased! Oh and Hull City won too, a great day!

Good work! I've two imperials pencilled in for the year, one of which will include the cat and fiddle, all being well.

Tbh, the Cat and Fiddle was a really easy climb but its worth it for the views at the top. Got passed by a big lorry going up which was fine, what wasn't fine was the car that was overtaking the lorry at the same time, on a blind bend! Absolutely bonkers maximus.

Yeah, I've heard the driving is pretty sketchy! My plan is to go up there when the tour of Britain goes over it, so the road will be closed.

When is that btw? I've never actually gone up Buxton New Rd (I always come from the other direction) partially because I hate cycling through Macclesfield and partially because of how dodgy the driving is. Would be fun to go up there when the road is closed to cars.

Tuesday 6 September. The stage runs from Congleton to Tatton Park. I've got the day off work and fingers crossed the weather will be on my side so I can really make a day of it. Last year I did 84 miles seeing it up near Skipton, this year will be even longer.
