Checked out a route of uv's at lunch. Pretty nice off-road route but my god the headwind was atrocious. I also ended up stuck for ten minutes whilst a herd of cows were..er..herded along a country road.

Fairly happy with the speed and my time up Birtles is an improvement but I'm prety confident I can smash that on a day when I'm less knackered.

edit: Also tried out my new dhb Aeron Speed Bib Shorts. I'm pretty impressed with the comfort for the price. It will be interesting to see how they perform on a longer ride though.

£80:eek: Can get far better quality for that price if you buy at the wrong time if that makes sense. No way would I be paying that much for DHB its OK as a budget option.

I don't think I paid £80 for them but still..what would you recommend for that price?

I tend to buy my bibs in the offseason, you can get decent castelli for that price then. But if you needed them now then you are going to pay the premium what ever you buy.

Unfortunately I definitely fell into the trap of timing. Other things I had the forethought to buy in winter but not bib shorts.

I can't say the Castelli stuff I've tried (which admittedly is not bib shorts) I rate any higher than the top tier DHB stuff. I've ridden my old higher end DHB stuff on longer rides and found it fairly comfortable. If I didn't burn through decent bib shorts at the rate of a pair per year (despite having separate shorts for commuting/shorter rides) I'd be more tempted by the more expensive Rapha and the like too.

Felt a bit rubbish today. Had to take the car in for a service so was had a rest anyway but I think I've got a bit of a cold going on. Bed now and driving tomorrow. Still feel tired after my imperial on the weekend, should be reet by Saturday though.

Ugly wheels for that S2 though :(

Don't look so bad I think!

11000 or so riders signed up for the Velothon Wales: http://www.velothon-wales.co.uk/en/competitor-info/get-race-ready/start-times-wave-numbers/

Looks like it's a bit undersubscribed as I seem to remember reading 18000 capacity. I'm in the 6th Wav... 6:40am pen loading.. urgh too early :D

I'm not sure what I'll do really. Riding with 5 other workmates... I reckon two of them could keep a good pace if they tried but not sure they will feel like that. I might be tempted to jump onto the bigger groups going by.

I bought two pairs of DHB Aeron Pro bib shorts in 2014 for about £54 each and they are still going well today.

Picked up Castelli bibs for £53 and have done the majority of my cycling to date in them (and had one off) and they are still going strong :)

Bleurgh, it's set to rain for like a week. Rubbish.

Sunny & 19 degrees tomorrow but a washout today and the remainder of the week.

I'd booked today off as leave to ride and be productive but cancelled it in favour of next Wednesday. Fingers crossed...

I really don't know how I haven't chucked my Garmin 810 down a drain yet... 20 mins into ride and it shuts off again... it seems to be doing it recently without even using navigation.

In other news joined the knee warmer club today with some Planet X cheapo merino ones. Quite nice even though there's only about 2 inches of each calf showing so almost leg warmers!

Weather for the Velothon Wales isn't looking great at all this weekend... I think I'm going to have to take a whole range of clothing and see how the weather is looking in the morning.

The Aeron Speed are really good quality shorts, you shouldn't discount them just because they have dhb written on them. Minimal brand tax so you get very high quality materials and chamois for the price.

You're probably right, admittedly I've not got top tier DHB shorts, I equally haven't got top tier Castelli. So my midrange DHB shorts experience (Flashlight £36, old Aeron £30 & Shard £54) compared to my low range Castelli (Evoluzione £45-60). The Castelli's are more comfortable over any reasonable distance but after 4 hours I do get a bit of numbness. The longest I've worn any of the DHB's was around 3 hours (shard & aeron) and I wouldn't want to do any more, had saddle sores quite badly from the Aeron. I got them slightly after wearing the Flashlight last week for around 1hr30. I find the pads in all of the DHB's, although are a bigger size than the Castelli, they really start to compress and the amount of comfort/padding you get from them rapidly decreases. I've also found them start to move around but I've put that down to me losing weight and not the fabric/pad changing. My Castelli's haven't suffered from this but none of them are a year old (yet!). I find the pad on the Castelli's quite firm which has lead to some numbness, I've had less issue with this from my Sportfuls which have a generally wider pad & will probably order some summer pairs of them.

I think this is it, I picked up my Evoluzione's for £45 a pair last autumn and they've never been on as good a sale again on Wiggle, even over winter!

Better picture but still not the rim's I'd choose look wise on that frame. The frame is gloss with bold broad solid colour swathes. The cosmic carbides have a matt look due to the bare carbon with very subtle logo's when I think they'd look better bright white and stood out! More in keeping with the style of Cervélo's logos. but guess that's just personal preference. Still an awesome bike! :)

My 810 has been a pain too, but recently just with sync'ing. Takes me 4-5 forced restarts just to get it to 'autosync' to Garmin connect.

Have a great time at the Velothon, be prepared for anything as coming north you'll get changes in the weather regardless of what it's like in Cardiff! Abergavenny (Tumble) can be totally different weather to Hereford, they're only 25 miles apart! Although weirdly it's usually warmer than here!?

Yeah, the pad on the Flashlight shorts/leggings is horrendously bad. I'm probably going to chuck mine it's that uncomfortable - even compared to $10 Chinese specials.
